An easy way to make linguine meals healthier is to add some veggies to the mix. In this recipe we add some soy beans or edamames. We have found that kids will eat edamames a lot easier than they will broccoli – so you might want to give them a try. Throw down some whole wheat pasta. Now in a pan saute some shelled edamame, lots of fresh garlic, pasta, your favorite spices and some vegetable broth. Cook all that up then mix in the cooked pasta warm it up a bit and chow down.

Kids are online and texting like never before. Do this relatively new and “virtual” interactions affect them in real life? It seems that for the heavy users of these social media that it does. Kids who text over 100 times a day and are online using social media for over 3 hours a day seem to be also dabbling in illegal drugs and drinking alcohol at a far larger rate than their more Luddite peers. So parents – pay attention.
Is using your cellphone dangerous? Cellphones placed next to your head do increase neuron activity. But is that a bad thing? Who knows. Dr Fitness thinks there is something to this so he uses a crazy headset that looks like it is out of the movie Sleeper to give him protection from these supposedly harmful rays. Sure he can’t hear his calls that well but he thinks he is protecting that precious brain of his from cellphone radiation. So that makes him feel better. Other simpler things you can do are: use a headset, use the speaker system in your car and text instead of talk.

No one is too busy to workout. That is just a fact. I don’t care how many kids you have, how much extra curricular activities they each participate in or that you work three jobs. If the President of the United States can find time to work out so can you. Here are the tips busy people do in order to get their workout in…
Forget about all or nothing. A short workout or a bad workout is better than no workout
Multi -task – when you are at one of those events for your kids – instead of sitting on the bleachers reading a book – go for a run
Mix it up. Don’t have time for a long run then do sprints, or intervals or boot camp drills. Just because you don’t have time to do your favorite exercise doesn’t give you permission to do nothing.
Wake up earlier. Sure you love to sleep – sure3 you need to sleep. but wake up 30 minutes earlier a few times a week to get in your workout. It won’t kill you in fact it will keep you alive longer.
