Our Real Estate Connections ATL special today was co-hosted by Peter Pasternack. Peter is in charge of the largest real estate networking event in town that is held every month. The Real Estate Connections event for this month will be on Thursday, May 3, and it will be held at Aja, a modern Asian kitchen, located in the Alliance Center on Lenox Road. The event will be held from 6-9pm and has a 20 dollar admission fee. Real Estate ATL’s Mission is to facilitate a positive atmosphere where real estate professionals and real estate related industries can join forces to network and share ideas and strategies.

On July 31, 2012, Georgians will vote on a one-cent sales tax to invest in a specifically identified list of transportation improvements in each of our State’s twelve economic development regions. Each region’s election will be separate from the other eleven regions, and each region’s citizens will determine the fate of a new 10-year Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) on all sales in the counties within that particular region.

Yvonne Cowser Yancy is a Human Resources professional with 16+ years of diverse experience within the public and private sector and within union and non union environments. Over her career she has held progressively more responsible roles in HR and has demonstrated the capability to design and implement HR initiatives; lead HR teams; and proactively partner with executives within her client groups. Ms. Yancy was recently Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner with SunTrust Bank supporting multiple clients within the Diversified Commercial Bank division. In her role she serves as the HR lead on key division talent and compensation initiatives and manages the people strategies and organization design efforts within her client groups.
Prior to joining SunTrust, Ms. Yancy was the Director of Human Resources for Technology, Strategy & Operations at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS). In this role, Ms. Yancy led a team responsible for delivery of corporate HR initiatives as well as divisional HR support to 1700+ employees across multiple business units. While at TBS she led the people strategy for a $25 million system implementation, managed a divisional rotational program, and supported her client groups in significant organizational redesign.
Prior to joining TBS in 2007, Ms. Yancy held several progressively more responsible roles within HR at Lincoln Financial Group (LFG). During her tenure at LFG, she supported multiple diverse clients groups across four divisions and multiple geographies. Additionally Ms. Yancy served as a first chair negotiator and managed the grievance process with the Teamsters at organized facilities within her regions. She has also held HR roles with GE Capital, Ikon Office Solutions and Georgia Tech.

A native of Atlanta, Ms. Yancy holds a BA degree in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA in Personnel Employee Relations from Georgia State University. Additionally she holds the Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification. A former Board member of the Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley, the Philadelphia Police Athletic League, the Lincoln Financial Group Foundation Board, and the Atlanta Housing Authority.
