Even in today’s advanced technological world, achieving full signal strength for your wireless devices can be an aggravating task.  Until now!  The founder of the Atlanta based Wi-Ex, Michael Rodgers joined us today on Renegade Radio to talk about how to boost your cell phone signal strength in your home, office and car.

Founded in 2002, Wi-Ex® develops, manufactures and distributes zBoost®, a line of cell phone signal boosters for the home, office or car.  The zBoost product line will Extend Cell Zones® for users by improving signal strength for better voice and data transmission while maintaining the integrity of the carriers’ networks using patented technology.  In early 2006, Wi-Ex was recognized as one of Georgia’s top 10 Innovative Companies.  They were selected by the 2007 and 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES®) as a Design and Engineering Awards honoree and a finalist for the CTIA Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2007 and 2010 for the Hardware – Mobile Accessory category.

Virgil Heidbrink is an active member of our senior community, a World War II veteran and a polished public speaker. After growing up in Iowa, Virgil was drafted into the army where he served in a medical unit. After traveling through India and spending some time in China, Virgil returned home and studied business at the University of South Dakota and later at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. After spending 36 years in sales for paper companies, Virgil retired and now does presentations on sales, finding glee in the golden age and “Polishing the Gold of the Senior Years”.

Virgil can frequently be seen around the Dallas area at networking events and actively participating in many events. If you would like to contact Virgil, you may call him at 214-361-5300, email him at virgilheidbrink@sbcglobal.net or visit his website at www.virgilsviews.com.

Barbara Scurry grew up in the Arctic.  Well, close to the Arctic.  She grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota!  She went from there to Florida (no wonder) to pursue a career in radio.  Following her husband, and wanting to continue her education as well, she moved to Tennessee and earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University.  Since 2000, she’s had a corporate career in marketing, sales, and business development. Barbara has worked in the manufacturing, financial services, and geriatric healthcare industries and prior to obtaining her degree, she worked as a Case Manager Specialist for Tennessee’s Families First Program in which she helped teach mothers who were moving off of welfare and into the workforce budgeting skills.

While doing sales and business development by calling on nursing homes and marketing for a Continuing Care Retirement Community and a private-duty home care company, she developed a passion for working with senior citizens.  This experience and passion, coupled with her knack for making complex information easy to understand. Led her to start her own business, The Money Moxie.  Barbara tells us that she is a pro at “organizing chaos”.  And chaos is often what she finds when she meets with a client the first time.  One of the specialties of her firm is simply “going through the mail”, making sure that bills are paid, that credit card statements are accurate, and her clients free of unwanted or unneeded charges for services the senior is not using.  For example, one client had three credit reporting services charging a monthly fee.

“I love helping and advocating for seniors and feeling like I’m making a difference in their lives. Seniors have so many other issues to worry about. I’m genuinely happy that I can bring them peace of mind by taking care of one aspect of their financial concerns.”

To contact Barbara, or find out more about her services, check out her website at www.themoneymoxie.com, email her at Barbara@themoneymoxie.com, or call her at (678) 278-8410.

We want to thank Griswold Special Care for sponsoring today’s show.  Griswold Special Care has been a preferred provider of high quality, affordable in-home senior care in Dallas and Atlanta for 20 years.

Jiffy Page, Founder of Pixorium

This week Chic Perspectives on Business features a conversation with Jiffy Page, Founder & Principal of Pixorium, about the creation of Atlanta’s photo-storytelling company and her unexpected role as entrepreneur.

Jennifer Page (“Jiffy”) : Jiffy started Pixorium in the fall of 2006 in response to her own efforts to manage all the family pictures and the despair she saw of Hurricane Katrina victims who lost all their family photographs.

Five years later, Pixorium, Atlanta’s photo-storytelling business, has helped hundreds of Atlanta-area clients preserve, save and share their photos (prints, slides, negatives, videos, film) and stories by digitizing the images and telling the stories in videos, books and other fun and compelling ways.

Jiffy’s own story includes lots of moves as a child, a career in magazine print sales, work as a sales consultant, writer and publication designer, custodial stepmother at 25, unexpected entrepreneur at 45 and a marvelous cast of characters in her husband, children, family and friends. You can reach her at jiffy.page@pixorium.com or by visiting www.pixorium.com; www.facebook.com/pages/Pixorium/146253261222; on Twitter –@Pixorium; www.vimeo.com/JiffyPage

We are 13 year-old entrepreneurs.  We started our first business, Kids Toys Inc., at age 10.  We now own a teen financial education business called Making Money For Teens.  We currently have a fun Making Money For Teens CD series that teaches kids and teens how to start investing in the stock market and start their own business.  They go over topics such as diversification, option trading, marketing, accounting, and much more.  We have recently been featured on Good Day Atlanta, Biz Kids (on PBS), and the Black Celebrity Kids website.  We have also spoken at several different conferences, high schools, and middle schools throughout Atlanta.  We are also currently in the process of writing a book.

Independent Youth would like to know…

What are your business tips for teens?

If you put hard work into what you do, success is always the result.  Never quit on your dream and never let anyone doubt your abilities because of your age.

What is the best part of being an entrepreneur?

The best part of being an entrepreneur is getting to experience new opportunities, meeting the professionals in your industry and getting advice from experienced business people.  One of our best experiences has been getting a signed picture from Donald Trump.
