On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Dr Tim Harlan aka Dr Gourmet came on his regular segment to explain the role of carbohydrates in your diet. He talked Glycemic Index and told us about how his website and program helps. Dr Gourmet’s favorite carbs are legumes, he said that if you eat legumes 4 times a week, studies show that you could lower your risk for a heart attack by over 20%. He says that eating healthy and being healthy is all about balance. He said he thinks that the Atkins and South Beach diets are silly. He said that the glycemic index rating of a Milky Way bar is lower than that of rice – which do you think is healthier for you? Do you really think pork rinds are better for you than carrots?
