On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy opened the show with our personal weight loss coach Marta Montenegro.
Marta is the founder of SobeFit Magazine and creator of the Montenegro Method. A big congrats to Marta’s husband who recently took Silver in a Masters Judo competition that was held here in Atlanta. Marta coached us up and has us ready to achieve our fitness and weight loss goal. We have lost over 25 pounds in total and are both highly motivated to lose weight now. Marta explained the benefit of adding strength training to our weight loss program to boost our metabolism and and really changing the shapes of our bodies. She said that we should make one small change and stick with that one until it becomes a habit then move on to the next small change. Marta also reminded us to vote for the Fittest Person. The magazine has narrowed the search down to the final six so go to her website and vote. And to learn more about the best fitness magazine in the world please go to www.sobefitmagazine.com

Stephanie is a community activist in the Oakland and Richmond California area and is the author of three books on crime prevention. Neighbor involvement is the key to the program and she spoke about some ways to engage your neighbors into the program. After all it is for everyone’s benefit to make the neighborhood safer. She said a simple way to get to know your neighbors is to walk the neighborhood and say Hi. She also said that playing in your yard is a great way for kids to get exercise and also meet your neighbors. She put to rest Dr Fitness’ fear of having his kid abducted when she explained that there are only about 135 kids abducted by strangers each year. She also said that ahving a relationship with the police in your area is a great investment of your time. Her books also help you deal with gangs, drug dealers and graffiti as well. She talked about neighborhood safety and even a little bit on how to create a fit neighborhood. To learn more about Stephanie, her books and her great cause please go to

Flops. Katie explain that Fit Flops are the only footwear than comes with a gym built-in. These fashionable shoes activate your muscles as you walk – kind of like simulating walking while barefoot. These shoes blow away those old fashioned flip flops because they diffuse the pressure on your feet, while the old ones force your toes to hold the shoe on the foot which is uncomfortable after awhile. These are not your mother’s sandals – they look great, they give you a hidden workout. They combine fashion with function and since the FitFlop makes sure your foot is always kept in the right position the 26 bones that make up your foot are all aligned properly. Dr Fitness insists that these will be the most comfortable pair of flip flops you will ever own. They have a kids line coming soon and have lots of different styles to choose from. You can try them on for yourself at Macy’s Nordstrom, Lady FootLocker and other great shoe stores or get them online at Zappos. Go to their website and see why Oprah put these shoes on her Top 10 list
