On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on our good friend Tiffany Davis, Atlanta Editor with The Daily Candy. One of the largest daily newsletters on the planet. As we have been saying forever fitness doesn’t have to mean working out at the gym there are lots and lots of activities you can do to lead an active life that does not include lifting a weight or walking on a treadmill. These are great ways to get off the couch, have some fun, meet some people and get in shape. If you don’t see something you like in your neighborhood then start your own. Tiffany shared some of her favorite social fitness communities like: customized urban cycling tours like www.biketoursatl.com; ad hoc cycling events like www.critical-mass.info; singles sports leagues like www.s3chicago.com; non-structured sports leagues like City Chase which is Amazing Race for real people which can be found at www.citychase.com as well as rec leagues for the benchwarmers of the world like www.underdogseattle.com To get the latest on health, style and fashion please go to www.dailycandy.com

Hemalayaa’s loyal following love her classes and her exercise dvds because she brings fun into the workout. Her playfulness and laughter make Hemalayaa a sought after instructor. Sure her students stretch, sweat, breathe hard and work their muscles, but it is not unusual to also hear them laughing from the joy that they are experiencing while doing the fitness workout. Acacia is releasing Hemalayaa: Bollywood Dance Workouts which is a 3 dvd collection of Hemalayaa’s top workouts (Bollywood Booty, Bollywood Burn and the Bollywood Dance Workout) all in one box. She also explained that yoga works great for women going through all three trimesters of their pregnancy but that it is important to do the yoga a little differently when you are pregnant. She also said that some instructors who have never been pregnant have a harder time adapting their exercise workouts to their pregnant clients becuase they themselves have never experienced being pregnant. Desi also shared some great tips about how to choose a yoga studio. She said to always talk to the manager and make sure the manager matches you up with an instructor or classes that meets your skill level and objectives.
