Jane McCracken returns to ATDC as a Startup Catalyst, having started her career here many years ago. She then moved into venture capital and investment banking both in the United States and Europe before joining an early-stage, medical diagnostics company as chief financial officer. During her time there, she raised $60 million and completed eight international acquisitions. The company was listed on both the London and Oslo stock exchanges.

Jane then worked with two venture-backed companies. She joined the founders of an online travel company as CEO, and took it from startup to the world’s second-largest hotel booking site before Travelocity acquired it. At the request of her venture investors, Jane then joined a computer games developer as CEO and turned around the faltering enterprise before it was sold to a NASDAQ-listed games company.

Most recently, Jane was CEO of an oncology-focused clinical research company, which grew from startup to a multinational firm with $15 million in annual revenue and offices across Europe and the United States. The company was financed through its own cash flow and was sold in early 2012 to a larger clinical research organization.

Jane continues to work with fast growing companies — in interim and full-time positions — as a consultant, board member, and angel investor. In addition, Jane has served on boards for public and private companies, as well as government-related and non-profit organizations. She is a frequent speaker and panelist at conferences, companies, and universities and is an active volunteer in her community. Jane obtained her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and her master’s degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Eloisa holds a bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College and a master’s degree in business administration from el Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey. She received her doctorate degree in public administration from the University of LaVerne. Eloisa is also active in various business and civic organizations.

The City of Atlanta’s motto is Resurgens, rising again. It’s more than an emblem. It defines what it means to be an Atlantan. Today, many Atlanta small business communities need help adapting to COVID-19 to rise up, recover and soar once again.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced a new grant fund to aid recovery for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic: the Resurgence Grant Fund.
The Resurgence Grant Fund is made possible by $88 million in federal funding to the City of Atlanta from the $2 trillion CARES Act Economic Relief Package. From this $88 million of CARES Act funding, the Atlanta City Council allocated $22 million to Invest Atlanta to create the Resurgence Grant Fund to address economic growth and recovery as businesses adapt to a new business environment created by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Resurgence Grant Fund offers up to $40,000 to help qualifying small businesses that have been adversely affected by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and related declarations of emergency by federal, state, and city officials. Through this new program, Invest Atlanta seeks to lessen the negative financial impact to businesses and to cover costs associated with operating safely during the pandemic.
Grant recipients will also have access to up to $10,000 of no-cost technical assistance services as they respond to the unique challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic and pivot their business practices to adapt to a more socially-distanced, digital and touch-free environment. Technical assistance offered includes things such as financial services, legal services, business technical assistance and workforce development.
Through the additional funding, the Strength in Beauty program will continue to support the cosmetology sector and offer $1,000 grants to alleviate hardships due to the loss of business as a result of the pandemic.

In 2001, Andy Levine was managing the rock band, Sister Hazel. That year, some of the band’s most passionate fans expressed their desire to go on a trip with the band. Andy began brainstorming ideas and eventually settled on a Sister Hazel fan cruise through the Caribbean.

Despite some initial concerns about being “trapped” on a ship, that first cruise turned out to be a reunion of fans they already knew. For four days, the band members formed friendships with their most dedicated fans. And by the end of their vacation at sea, the community had formed.

Levine returned to Atlanta with a new ambition: To start a company that would tear down the walls between bands and their fans, allowing them to connect in an authentic way. He called this new company, Sixthman. Since 2001, Sixthman has produced over 125 music festivals on cruise ships for artists like KISS, KidRock, Kesha, Bon Jovi, Zac Brown, John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa, 311, Paramore and more. More than 250,000+ guests have vacationed for more than 1 million days on sixth man cruises.

In 2011, Sixthman was named the fastest-growing travel company by Inc. Magazine and the #87th overall fastest-growing company in America.

In 2012, Sixthman was acquired by Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Levine was named Business Person of the year by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Levine stepped down as CEO of Sixthman in 2016, though he continues to support the organization as chairman.

Today, Andy lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where he raises his two children and builds new social entrepreneurial ventures (like Topeka and Moon Crush)through his startup, Always Saturday. He also invests his time mentoring young entrepreneurs and helping build empowerment paths for people lifting themselves out of poverty.
