SAVINGS TIPS AND INSIGHTS FORA HEALTHY FINANCIALFUTUREJust Under HalfofAmericansThink They’re Saving Enough Money to Achieve Their Financial Goals.

April Schneider, Financial Expert & Head of Consumer and Small Business Products, Bank of America America Saves Week is in full swing, and Bank of America is encouraging people around the country to make a commitment to save at AmericaSavesWeek.org. Just 49%of Americans believe they’re saving enough to achieve their financial goals—there’s never been a better time to examine your savings behavior and commit to a healthy financial future.

April Schneider, Head of Consumer and Small Business Products at Bank of America, will share tips and insights to help make your financial goals a reality, whether you’re just starting to save or hoping to build on existing financial habits

INSIGHTS &TIPS:

  • Save with a plan: A smart savings strategy should incorporate a budget and goals. If you need a refresher on budgeting tips, visit Better Money Habits, Bank of America’sonline financial education platform. Setting short or long-term goals can help motivate you to stick with saving and inform your strategy. The most common savings goals for Americans are: preparing for retirement (46%), increasing their savings (46%), saving for a vacation (40%)and building an emergency fund (36%).
  • Plan for retirement: Just 54% of Americans think they’ll be able to save enough to retire someday. Create a realistic retirement savings goal by talking to a financial advisor, who can develop a retirement strategy with you, accounting for your lifestyle, goals, location and more.
  • Open a savings account: When you’re first starting to save, opening a savings account is one of the most important actions you can take to secure your financial future. It allows you to earn interest while keeping your money safe and accessible. When evaluating your account options, ask the right questions: Are there account fees? What’s the initial deposit requirement? Is the account compatible with financial apps?
  • Use automatic savings tools:49% of Americans use automatic savings programs to make saving simple and consistent. There are many great automatic savings tools out there. For example, Bank of America’s Keep the Change program automatically rounds up your debit card purchases to the nearest dollar amount and transfers the change from your checking account to your savings account.
  • Save when you spend: Consider applying fora credit card that lets you earn rewards on purchases and use those rewards as a savings tool. For example, if your credit card gives you cash back, you may be able to set up automatic transfers so that whenever you reach a certain rewards balance, such as $25, it is deposited directly into your savings account.

NEW TECH TRENDS FOR2020 & BEYOND 20th Annual Accenture Technology Vision Report finds that companies Must Do a Better Job of Balancing Business Value with People’s Values Michael Biltz, Managing Director of the Accenture Technology Vision

BIO

Michael Biltz leads Accenture’s Technology Vision R&D group and the company’s annual technology visioning process. ThroughAccenture’s Technology Vision, Michael defines Accenture’sperspective on the future of technology beyond the current conversations about social, cloud, mobility, and big data to focus on how technology will impact the way we work and live.
The Technology Vision is intended to identify the future technology trends that will have a significant business impact over the next three years. It serves as a guide for how Accenture advises it is so that they are in the best position to take advantage of technology shifts and developments.
The Vision provides guidance on what companies should do short-term, as well as over the coming years to prepare for and adapt to these future technology changes.
According to the 20th annual Technology Vision report from Accenture, even though people are embedding technology into their lives more than ever before, organizations’ attempts to meet their needs and expectations can fall short. As companies work to deliver on their digital promises—and in a world where digital technology is everywhere—a new mindset and approach are required.
While some have referred to today’s environment as a “tech-lash,” or backlash against technology, that fails to appreciate the extent to which society is using and benefitting from technology. Rather, it’s a tech-clash—a clash between old models that don’t meet people’s expectations today. But tech-clash is a challenge that can be solved. To succeed moving forward, organizations must focus on balancing “value” with “values,” aligning their drive to create business value with their customers’ and employees’ values and expectations.

BRX Pro Tip: Using Interview Skills at Your Networking Events Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton, Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, when you host your own radio show, it opens up just an incredible world for you. One of the ways in which it does that is you really can leverage your interviewing skills at a networking event. Speak to that a little bit.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:22] Sure. Networking events for me were kind of things I dreaded, me being an introvert and not like kind of a people person that likes to make small talk. But I realized that one of the unintended consequences of having a radio show and interviewing so many people is I’m good at interviewing people. And when I’m in a networking event, I just kind of put on my interviewer hat and then, I’d just start using active listening, I start asking questions.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:49] And then, my fallback position, if I’m ready for the thing to be over is I invite them on a show in some future point or give them the link to go to, to book themselves on the show. So, I use these skills all the time. And then, networking events were things that I were totally uncomfortable, would kind of nine times out of 10 talk myself out of going to one, because I didn’t want to make small talk or felt awkward. And now, I feel pretty confident in those kinds of environments, because I know I can just put my interviewer hat on and ask some questions and sit back and listen. And the person I’m talking to will do all the heavy lifting and answer the questions.

BRX Pro Tip: Ways to Promote Your BRX Guest Appearance Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:03] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor, Stone Payton here with you, Lee, it’s an exciting time when you are preparing to go on air and be part of a Business RadioX show. What are some ways that our guest can pre-promote their Business RadioX guest appearance?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:20] Yeah, I think it’s great if you’re about to go on a show, if you can tell everybody through your social channels, “Hey, I’m about to be on this show, it broadcasts live at this time on this date. And you can go to this URL to listen to the show as it’s happening.” Another thing you can do to create engagement with kind of your followers and fans is ask them a question. What do you think I should talk about? What are some stories I should share or do you have a story that, you know, when we worked together that you think you would like for me to mention on the air?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:54] So, you can create some engagement with your community to let them know. What are some topics or, you know, some thought leadership I should share that you think I’ve shared with you that you think would be important to the listeners? Any advice that I’ve given you that resonates with you? So then, you can use your media appearance as a way to pre-promote, so you can create engagement. And then, during the show, while it’s happening, while you’re waiting for your turn to be interviewed, you can do a tweet or something and say, “Listen live. I’m about to be on the air in five minutes”, or something.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:23] And send that out to your audience and then, always after the fact, when you have the link to the interview, share that as well. But before the show, I would definitely have a couple of touches before the show to my audience that says, “Hey, I’m about to be on this show next week. Anything you want me to talk about?” And then, as it gets closer, to remind them and share URL of where they can listen in live.

Michael Shoer is a media and marketing entrepreneur. A journalist by training and trade, he was one of the early pioneering news producers who helped created CNN, and went onto manage newscasts and newsrooms, and advise television stations across the country on how to grow an audience. His first start-up was an online advisory that evolved into a content syndication company that NBC backed and ultimately acquired. His idea for a service calledSweepsFeed served TV stations in 120 local markets, and today has evolved into one of the world’s leading North and South American digital media content companies. (natcomglobal.com).

Along the way, he co-founded Creative Word & Image, an Atlanta-based digital and video marketing agency, as well as a start-up that literally broke the mold. Ice Caters was his idea to disrupt and provide growth opportunities for perhaps the oldest industry there is -the ice industry. Embraced by the largest packaged ice company in the world, Ice Catersestablishing licensed manufacturing and distribution at ice companies nationwide of the first-ever line of molded and CNC created ice sculptures, mass-produced, packed for shipment and to stay frozen for up to 48 hours.

Today Michael is the founder and principal of VictorySpirits Development, where his brand of marketing focused entrepreneurism is paired with a network of spirits industry veterans to help startup and emerging spirits brands and industry suppliers with growth strategies that include funding development, digital marketing activation, and improved profitability.

BRX Pro Tip: What to Expect as a BRX Guest Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:02] Welcome back to BRX Pro Tips, Lee Kantor, Stone Payton here with you. Lee, more and more people, as we continue to expand, are being invited to come on a Business RadioX show in their community. What can they expect? Man, what can they expect as a Business RadioX guest?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:20] Yeah. When you’re a Business RadioX guest, it’s different than if you were on a traditional or legacy media outlet, because we’re long-form. We’re not trying to fit in your interview in the clock wheel, where there’s only a few minutes to get your point across and you’ve got to force fit soundbites and talking points into your conversation. So, we’re going to let you talk. We’re going to let you share stories.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:44] And remember, we’re pro-business. We’re not here to humiliate or embarrass you. We’re not investigative reporters. We’re here to support and celebrate your work. But some of the basics that I think are true in all of the studios, we’d like you to be there at the studio at least 15 minutes before the show, because we do, do a soundcheck. And that’s important to be part of the soundcheck. And if you’re blowing in late or in some cases, studio partners won’t even let you come in if you’re not there five minutes before the show, because the show happens live.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:15] So, it’s important. We don’t normally wait for a guest before we begin. If the show’s at 10:00, that show is happening at 10:00. So, get there on time. Be prepared for the mic check. Sometimes, those mic checks are video for Facebook Live or things like that. So, be ready for kind of a short little kind of elevator pitch that you can tell people about what your work is briefly before the show begins. And then, make sure that you’ve got a couple of stories that illustrate how you serve folks and really kind of tell the story, but we expect you to be here on time.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:54] We expect you to stay the whole length of time for the entire show, not just do your interview and leave. And then, we expect you to take pictures with us afterwards to commemorate the event, because you try to use the opportunity as a photo op and use the headphones and the mics and stuff like that for your social media. It’s a great way to tell the people that are important to you that you were part of a show and that your work matters.
