“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.”“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”

“Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere.”

“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

—Elie Wiesel

BRX Pro Tip: Reasons Not to Have a Show Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:02] Welcome back to BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, I wake up every day, I know you do as well, thinking of and sharing reasons to have a Business RadioX show, but what are some reasons not to have a show?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:19] Sure. Occasionally, we get a person that comes in the studio, and we’re talking to them about what we do, why we do it. And then, sometimes, you can tell right away, it’s not going to be the right fit because their expectations are a little out of whack of what a show is and what it can be. And I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but if they’re coming in here trying to become famous or trying to get rich quickly, our platform is probably not the right fit for them.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:51] I’m not saying it’s impossible to become famous through this, or it’s impossible to get rich quick. It’s just that that’s not what I feel confident that we can deliver to a client. It might happen. It’s kind of a lottery ticket, and all the stars have to align in order for them to get the traction they need, in order to become famous or rich quick. But it’s not something I feel confident we can deliver, kind of, reliably and predictably. If they want to dominate their local market, if they want to serve their community, that I feel pretty confident that we can deliver. If they want to meet hard-to-reach people face to face, I feel pretty confident we can deliver that. But to become famous, a lot of things have to align in order for that to happen.

Stone Payton: [00:01:34] So, two reasons that come to mind from for me, one is value system. Look, if you’re not genuinely invested in supporting and celebrating the local business community at large and really want to help people day in and day out, this thing is going to wear thin really quickly. People are going to see through it. You’re not going to have fun. You’re not going to deliver value. You’re not going to get ROI. And that’s the second thing.

Stone Payton: [00:02:02] Another reason not to do the show is math. Look, do the math. Think through return on investment. And I’m not talking about just the money that you invest but, also, the time and the energy. And you’ll think—I mean, you’ll be able to see pretty quickly if you just do some simple math. And if the ROI isn’t just in your face, obvious right out of the gate, then don’t do it, forego it, and do something else.

NickLopezFounder and CEO of LIME Painting, Nick Lopez, graduated high school, left Colorado as a first-generation college student, and headed to Michigan State University. Nick was planning on walking onto the wrestling team as a way to pay for his college tuition and cost of living. Unfortunately, upon his arrival on campus, Nick realized that a wrestling scholarship was at least a couple of years away. Needing a way to afford everything, Nick decided to hang up his wrestling shoes and embark on an entrepreneurial journey.

By the time he was 19, Nick had already founded his first painting company, Spartan College Painters, LLC. From that summer on, Nick would paint homes as a way to pay for tuition, books, and cost of living. As time began to pass, Nick realized that he was developing a real passion and real love for his new craft. It was during his third year as the owner of his own business that Nick began to understand that the past three years of painting didn’t have to be his last and that a future in the industry was something that made sense for him.

With hard work, a willingness to serve, and a little luck, Nick happened to stumble upon a massive need in the market as high-end properties and clients were struggling to find a consistent, high-quality painting company that also provided custom coatings and restoration solutions. It was from this moment on that Nick began to focus on running a business that would blow past the status-quo. limepaintingfranchise-mark

Nick used his five years at Michigan State University as a way to refine and fine-tune his existing business model. After finishing his degree, Nick and his soon-to-be wife decided to move back to Colorado to start their family. It wasn’t long after they completed their move that Nick launched LIME Painting in Denver as a way to establish the same, scalable model that he had developed in East Lansing.

Since his launch, and in the first four years of operation in Colorado, LIME Painting has surged past $5.5 million in revenue. It soon became abundantly clear that Nick needed to share this model with the rest of the country which is why the decision was made to open the business up to franchising.

Today, with LIME Painting, the United States now has a brand that understands how to deliver a consistently amazing painting experience to high-end homeowners.

BRX Pro Tip: Saving Money and Making Money with this Platform Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:02] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, let’s talk about both sides of the coin, if you will. That is demonstrating how you can both save money and make money using this platform.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:17] Right. We talk a lot about how this show can put you in front of hard-to-reach people, and that can improve your sales because you’re going to get a swing at selling these people something down the road. But it’s something to not ignore, especially if you’re dealing with enterprise-level clients is how Business RadioX saves money. Saves that money, it’s just a fact. The amount of content we create, and when we give that back to them in text form and transcribed, that is saving their PR team and their marketing communications team a ton of time where they would have had to interview an executive that the executive never wants to be interviewed. They’re always kind of pushing it off. It makes the PR person or the marketing communications person’s job extremely difficult because they don’t have the content they need in order to write the post, write the articles, and write the whitepapers that they need to do.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:11] We can work very closely with the marketing communications folks, and they can tell us, “Look, make sure you ask the three questions,” and we can just kind of weave that in. Then, we transcribe it. They have the answers. Now, they have the quotes they need, they have the information they need, and they don’t have to kind of ask that executive to spend more time answering questions or writing something they don’t want to write. And we’ve given it to them kind of on a platter. So, just that alone can save them hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a month, just in the time that the marketing communications and PR folks would be spending chasing down the same information that we’re capturing during an interview.

I was born and raised in a tiny town of 500 people in NW Ohio. (Lindsey) The only girl with 3 brothers. I was lucky enough to go through 8 grades with the same 25 or so “Kids” and then in 9th grade, we joined the “city kids” at the big school in Fremont, Ohio. In the 1970s that meant going from about 25 kids to almost 600!

I got good grades, graduated high in my class and had tons of friends. My parents were married until my mother’s death in1995. She was from Chicago and my dad from a farm in eastern Ohio so life was good! Right after high school, I joined Up with People and during the US Bicentennial, I traveled all across this country and down into Mexico. For a kid who loved languages, loved people and loved to travel, it was a perfect fit.

After a second year of working and traveling through Europe, I started college here at the University of Arizona. It was here that I met my husband Gilbert. In 1980 we married and moved back to Ohio to be near my family. During those Ohio years, I had 3 sons, finished my degree at the University of Toledo, and lived in the same small town where I had grown up. My degree was in business and I started my career by working in Admissions for a technical college. For the next20 years, my jobs changed, but always somehow seemed to center on sales and/or management of some kind.

In 2000, we moved back to Tucson where my husband was born and raised. In 2005 I began my career in Real Estate and have been doing this full time since then. I am currently with Keller Williams Southern Arizona representing both buyers and sellers in residential Real Estate. I have been in the top 20% of my company for the past 10 years. I love what I do and have a passion specifically for helping those who might need someone to help with French! The person who loves to travel loves helping those coming to Tucson from not only colder climates here in the US, but also those who are moving from across the ocean. I have been on our agent leadership council for all but 3 of the past 10 years and specifically tend to work with our Culture Committee.

I am also active in my church, St Mark’s United Methodist as a praise team member in contemporary worship. And, most recently I have served as the head of our Staff Parish Relations committee as well as president of the Campus Christian Center. One of my goals this year is to work with the Inn Project, helping those immigrants coming to the US through Tucson on their way to their new homes here in the United States.
