Joyn

David Geller is the co-founder of JOYN, an independent Registered Investment Advisor believed to be the first and only Behavioral Wealth Management firm in the nation. As JOYN’s CEO, David has advised some very wealthy clients. Despite having helped them grow their wealth, David saw his clients weren’t living the meaningful, joyful lives they desired. He realized that money alone is meaningless if you can’t use it to make your life better. David concluded that the financial industry was broken – and embarked upon a decade-long mission to fix it. Traditional wealth management focuses on the numbers: how much you’ll need and when you’ll need it. But the outdated money-centric model ignores a key truth: we don’t live our lives by numbers, and money by itself doesn’t make us happy. We’re not rational robots. Our emotions and brain biology influence our financial and investment decisions. David resolved to provide his clients with a wealth management model that acknowledges our humanity. After a decade of study and development, JOYN launched Behavioral Wealth Management, a groundbreaking model based on the science of behavioral economics and behavioral finance. The traditional advisory model largely ignores the human factor – JOYN’s model embraces it. “We aim to create a totally different experience for our clients. We’re here to do more than simply help you build your wealth. Our deeper mission is to help you use your wealth to create an extraordinary, joyful life.” David is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Emory University, where he earned both a B.A. and an M.A. David earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan, where he served as an Editor of the Michigan Law Review. David practiced law with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy, LLP (now Bryan Cave) before entering the financial planning field in 1986. He co-founded JOYN in 1991. Consistently named one of Barron’s top financial advisors (2009-2012, 2014), David also received the prestigious Turknett Leadership Character Award in 2009. In 2011, the Atlanta Business Chronicle named JOYN one of the top wealth management firms in Atlanta. David’s writings have appeared in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and The Huffington Post, among others, and in 2012, he authored Wealth and Happiness: Using Your Wealth to Create a Better Life. An engaging and in-demand speaker, both in the United States and internationally, David enjoys sharing his wealth management philosophy through professional engagements and workshops.
