Roy Palomo is a native of Arizona. He grew up in the Sunnyslope area where he then went on to college and received a degree from Northern Arizona University. His degree was in Exercise Science which he quickly put into action by developing a fitness program that was being implemented into grade schools in conjunction with their PE programs.

He was quickly recognized by the AZ Governors Council on Exercise and Physical Fitness on 2 separate occasions for his work within physical education. After a brief career in hospitality, Roy was introduced to the recruiting industry. Once he made the transition to talent discovery, Roy quickly established himself as one of the top recruiters in his market with particular expertise in engineering, manufacturing/production and call center placements.

His success ultimately led him to found HotFoot Recruiters alongside fellow co-founder Matt White just four years into his new line of work. Looking forward, Roy envisions a bright future ahead for HotFoot Recruiters. He would like to get HotFoot to 3 times the size of where it is currently, and believes that would be achievable in the next five years.

Dr. Eric Roberts opened his practice, Tampa Bay Foot and Anke, in the Medical Arts II Center in April, 2018 after 6 years in practice. The office is less than a mile from St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL and features the latest technology and treatment options that exist today. Dr. Roberts is also now working at the St. Anthony’s Center for Wound Healing.

UMOM New Day Centers provides emergency shelter and innovative housing solutions to end homelessness for families, single women and youth. These individuals and families are waiting to escape the unsafe environment of living on the streets, sleeping in their cars, or residing in an unstable living situation. On average, there are over 130 families each night experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County and wait anywhere from 10-14 weeks for shelter.

Through their emergency shelter programs, UMOM serves approximately 500+ families and approximately 1000+ women each year. Their youth programs serve approximately 300 unaccompanied youth annually and 500 families within their Rapid Rehousing programs. In 2019, UMOM served over 18,000 individuals experiencing homelessness who are seeking assistance. These individuals have likely experienced a number of life-threatening or traumatic experiences due to their time in the military, experience as a domestic violence victim, a victim of human or sex trafficking, displacement, mental and physical health impairments, sexual orientation/gender identification discrimination and more.

UMOM’s focus is on restoring hope and rebuilding lives by providing no-cost services and basic needs to all clients such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, etc. Clients also receive access to workforce development assistance, job training, health and wellness services, child services assistance, life-skills classes and more. UMOM also offers innovative housing solutions by building and maintaining our own affordable housing and rapid rehousing programs.

Stella O’Rourke has worked at UMOM for almost 2 years on their Development Team. Her role is to connect corporations and their employees to UMOM through events, volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, in-kind drives and more. She has worked with over 100 different corporations throughout Arizona who are passionate about ending homelessness for families, single women and youth.

With over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit field, the foundation of her professional development has come from her work in assisting our community’s most marginalized individuals including those experiencing homelessness, mental & behavioral health needs, working with adopted and fostered youth, children within the juvenile justice system, and issues surrounding girls and women.

Stella comes from a non-traditional background herself. As an adoptee from a young age, her non-traditional upbringing has often allowed her to relate to the beneficiaries she’s served. Stella is passionate about creating or enhancing opportunity for all individuals regardless of economic background, race, gender, trauma history, life-experience, etc.

On a day-to-day basis, she strives to assist individuals in advancing their skills, ability, and increasing accessibility to needed services & programs. Stella earned her Masters degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Louisiana State University.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson provides state-of-the-art programs of medical education, groundbreaking research opportunities, and leading-edge patient care.

Founded on the campus of the University of Arizona in 1967 as the state’s only MD degree-granting college and a resource for the people of Arizona, today the UA College of Medicine ranks among the top medical schools in the nation for research and primary care.

From an initial class of just 32 students, the UA College of Medicine today has graduated more than 4,000 physicians. College of Medicine students, faculty, staff, and alumni today continue more than 50 years of service in advancing medical care and knowledge in Arizona—and around the world.

Dr. Sairam Parthasarathy serves as Chief, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine; Director, Center for Sleep and Circadian Sciences, UA Health Sciences; Medical Director, Center for Sleep Disorders, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson.

He is a NIH- and PCORI-funded researcher with interest in noninvasive ventilation in the home and the study of sleep in critically ill patients receiving mechanical ventilation. His early research involved the study of patient-ventilator interaction in critically ill patients and subsequently the study of respiratory assist devices in the domiciliary setting.

He has led pre-FDA clinical research of home ventilators for industry (Philips, Inc.) that has led to FDA approval and performed independent third-party bench testing of respiratory assist devices for regulatory submissions to FDA.

He has previously served as Chairperson of the Sleep Disorders Research Advisory Board to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has recently served as a Special Advisor to the NIH/NHLBI in the lung division and is currently on the editorial board of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Boris Reiss, PhD, CIH, is an assistant professor in the College of Public Health at the University of Arizona. He graduated with a PhD in Occupational Hygiene from the University of Washington in Seattle in August 2016, an MSc in (Atmospheric) Chemistry from York University, Toronto, Canada in 2000, and an undergraduate degree in Environmental and Radiation Safety Sciences from Karlsruhe, Germany in 1995.

His primary research interest is developing tools and techniques for time-resolved exposure assessment in order to advance public health disciplines (e.g., industrial hygiene, epidemiology, risk assessment, compliance). In his current research, he utilizes Laser Ablation ICP-MS to obtain estimates of manganese exposure in welders’ hair. Previously, he developed, modified, and built calibration and measurement equipment for gases such as NOx, SO2, and methane.

Dr. Reiss has worked for more than 10 years in different areas of industrial hygiene – research, academia, and industry. He has evaluated hazards in areas ranging from food sciences to oil and gas exploration. His projects ranged from one-person residential indoor air quality assessments in Canada to managing a large-scale (≥100 employees) retrospective exposure assessment study in China.

He has conducted major projects in Canada, China, Germany, and The Netherlands; and shorter stints in Austria, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates. Dr. Reiss is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

He is an active member of AIHA’s Biological Monitoring Committee, and corresponding member of that organization’s Exposure and Control Banding Committee, Exposure Assessment Strategies Committee, and Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Committee.
