Tommy Jennings has been President and CEO of the Barrow County Chamber of Commerce since 2006. His term of service has seen the Barrow Chamber through the Great Recession and through COVID-19 with increased membership, participation, and revenues.
Prior to his service with the Barrow Chamber, he worked for 35 years in a family-owned manufacturing company with 600 employees in 4 plants in Northeast Georgia. The company, Barrow Manufacturing Company, was started in 1931 by his grandfather, W. H. Jennings, Sr., and was succeeded by W. H. Jennings, Jr. Jennings succeeded his father in 1986, and ran the operations, along with his brother, until it was acquired in 2005.
Jennings assumed the role of interim President in November 2006, and was named permanent President and CEO in January of 2007. He has completed the Georgia Tech Economic Development Course, completed his 4-year course with the U.S. Chamber’s Institute of Organization Management where he was president of his Institute class, and is a Certified Georgia Chamber of Commerce Executive.
