Chase Hodges/GGC Tennis Coach
The first head coach in school history, Chase Hodges has established a tennis dynasty at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). In his seven-year stay at GGC, his men’s and women’s teams have captured 11 national championships, and he has been named national coach of the year 11 times by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and on 7 occasions by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
A decorated coach at all levels of collegiate tennis, Hodges delivered GGC its first-ever national title in any sport with both the men’s and women’s 2014 NAIA National Championship titles. He was able to repeat the feat with the men in 2015 guiding it to the crown while the women finished as the national runner-up. In 2016, the men’s tennis team completed a three-peat as NAIA national champions while the women’s team collected its second national title in three years of postseason eligibility. Hodges guided the men’s and women’s tennis programs to two more national titles in 2017 as the men’s team picked up its fourth consecutive title while the women’s squad repeated as champions to pick up its third NAIA title in four seasons. GGC continued its dominance in 2018 and 2019 by sweeping the NAIA national championships.
Bill Rogers/Georgia Gwinnett College
Dr. William Rogers is the Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Physical Education at Georgia Gwinnett College. He has more than two decades of experience in higher education having held positions as a faculty member, Director of Athletics, Director of Wellness, Recreation, Intramurals and Outdoor Adventures, and Associate Dean of Students for Wellness.
Rogers continues to hold a faculty appointment and teaches in the School of Science and Technology. His scholarly activities include co-developing a certificate program for “wellness champions” for the International Association of Wellness and Health Promotion as well as having served on the editorial review board for the Center for Disease Control: Preventing Chronic Disease. He serves on the Georgia Board of Regents academic advisory committee for health and physical education and has chaired numerous committees on the spectrum of wellness and health promotion. He has been an invited presenter on the state, regional and national level on topics related to employee and student wellness.
As a scholar-athlete himself, Rogers earned the highest academic honor of Phi Beta Kappa and was the national coach of the year twice in the sport of tennis. Rogers has been identified as a Georgia Board of Regents Executive Leadership Institute scholar, recognized as an expert by HealthLead’s US Healthiest Campus Accreditation Program, and recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives H.R. 809 for his contributions to intercollegiate athletics. Rogers has been inducted into both the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Tennis Hall of Fame and Brenau University’s Hall of Fame.
