Michelle Kang is a first generation Korean American. She immigrated to Georgia in 1992 and has since become a U.S. citizen by naturalization. Since obtaining her Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia in 2009, she has been serving the Korean American community and business community in the region with her various positions in several organizations including:
- Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Board Member
- Gwinnett County 2022 Citizen Budget Review Committee Member
- Community Partner Advisory Committee for the Gwinnett Place Mall Redevelopment
- Korean American Constituency Director of the Asian American Action Fund
- Secretary-General of the Atlanta Korean American Committee Against Asian Hate
- Chairwoman of Business Planning Committee of the Federation of Korean Associations (Southeast USA)
- VP of External Affairs of Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta, GA
