Jonisha Holmes of JZ Holmes Lifestyle stopped to chat with host Richard Grove live at HAVEN 2022. She is a content creator and lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jonisha and Richard discussed her work, how she got into content creation, what she’s working on, organizing her storage, and much more.

J Z Holmes is a lifestyle blog founded by Designer and DIYer Jonisha Holmes. Her motto is “all you have to do is start”, and she hopes her site will inspire you to do just that.

Jonisha is an interior designer, DIYer, and mom. She loves taking the time to update her 1960s ranch-style home, turning it into a modern haven. A lot of on-the-fly designs, trial and error DIYs, all while trying to conquer motherhood. Building and design is something she has wanted to do forever, and she’s happy to finally be doing it, to show design and décor through her house and projects.

Richard Grove, Host, *Organization Conversation*

Richard Grove‘s background is in engineering but what he enjoys most is brand building through relationships and creative marketing. Richard began his career with the Department of Defense as an engineer on the C-5 Galaxy Engineering Team based out of Warner Robins. While Richard found this experience both rewarding and fulfilling, he always knew deep down that he wanted to return to the small family business that originally triggered his interest in engineering.

Richard came to work for the family business, Dekalb Tool & Die, in 2008 as a Mechanical Engineer. At the time Wall Control was little more than a small ‘side hustle’ for Dekalb Tool & Die to try to produce some incremental income. There were no “Wall Control” employees, just a small warehouse with a single tool and die maker that would double as an “order fulfillment associate” on the occasion that the original WallControl.com website, which Richard’s grandmother built, pulled in an order.

In 2008, it became apparent that for the family business to survive they were going to have to produce their own branded product at scale to ensure jobs remained in-house and for the business to continue to move forward. Richard then turned his attention from tool and die to Wall Control to attempt this necessary pivot and his story with Wall Control began. Since that time, Richard has led Wall Control to significant growth while navigating two recessions.

Outside of Richard’s work at Wall Control he enjoys helping other business owners, operators, and entrepreneurs along their own paths to success by offering personal business coaching and advising through his website ConsultantSmallBusiness.com. Richard has developed an expansive and unique skillset growing and scaling Wall Control through a multitude of challenges to the successful brand and company it is today. Richard is happy to share his knowledge and experience with others who are looking to do the same within their own businesses.

I Speak K-9 is a friendly, safe training, boarding, and stay and play center, providing services to our community, by certified experts. Jenny has been training, and showing dogs for over 25 years. She has influenced several breeds, most notably Collies and Rottweilers, and has been active in many aspects of the dog world – not only conformation, but also obedience, protection, and herding, and she has a long list of titled dogs to show for it. She is educated in Applied Animal Behavior and Experimental Psychology, but experience is what has given her the natural ability to communicate with the dogs on a level that is clearly understood by the animal. In her past, as a proven leading Trainer for a the largest Corporate pet company in the world, Jenny used her skills and her own knowledge as oppose to their traditional curriculum, to train others in her methods, always encouraging young people to become pack leaders, and use body language to present yourself. Using many different training methods – positive reinforcement being at the top of the list, but understanding that each dog is an individual – she applies the appropriate method to give the dog every opportunity for a long, happy life with the right human. She is a Professional Premium Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), What truly sets Jenny’s training apart, is that she is comfortable and confident in what she does. It is not as much a learned method, as it is what comes naturally! Few people can really handle the dog in their own element, read the dog’s body language and give you an enlightening picture into the dog’s mind. Jenny can truly “speak K-9”, and she does it just as naturally as most people breath air or speak their native language.

Dusty Porter/Porter Media

Under the Porter Media umbrella is Dusty’s YouTube channel called “Dusty Porter” with over 260 thousand subscribers and over 60 million video views to this point. Dusty also hosts 2 YouTube centric podcasts called “YouTube Creators Hub” and “TubeBuddy Express”. These podcasts get around 40-50 thousand downloads per week. He also films and DJs weddings. All of this has lead to Dusty becoming a Voice Actor as well.
