LIVE from HAVEN 2022: Brooke, Cribbs Style (Organization Conversation, Episode 37)

Brooke, DIY and Lifestyle blogger with Cribbs Style, joined host Richard Grove at HAVEN 2022 for her tenth year. She shared her journey from being an organizer to becoming a blogger. She and Richard also talked about the advantages of being at HAVEN, the difference it has made to her process by having a Wall Control system, and more.

This show was originally broadcast live from the 2022 HAVEN Conference held at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia.

Organization Conversation is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Brooke, Cribbs Style

Brooke, Cribbs Style

Born and raised in Ohio, Brooke grew up an only child which meant she had to be super creative with how she spent her time.  Most of her childhood, she was lucky enough to live next door to her grandparents, who exposed her to the world of crafting and woodworking. Her parents took a lot of pride in making their house a home, which is where Brooke learned her love of organizing and keeping things tidy.  She took the skills she learned to college, and took great pride in crafting and making her home away from home hers with simple projects.

It was in college that she met her husband who, thankfully, also shares her love of creating and doing projects. Even before they married, they loved going through open houses, parades of homes, home shows, you name it, looking at design and decor ideas.

From their very first home to the home they live in now, they have gained experience, and courage, with every home project they complete.

Brooke’s goal has always been to help other people realize that anything is possible. That the world of organization and DIY doesn’t have to be intimidating and is completely doable.

About Richard Grove

Richard Grove, Host, Organization Conversation

Richard Grove‘s background is in engineering but what he enjoys most is brand building through relationships and creative marketing. Richard began his career with the Department of Defense as an engineer on the C-5 Galaxy Engineering Team based out of Warner Robins. While Richard found this experience both rewarding and fulfilling, he always knew deep down that he wanted to return to the small family business that originally triggered his interest in engineering.

Richard came to work for the family business, Dekalb Tool & Die, in 2008 as a Mechanical Engineer. At the time Wall Control was little more than a small ‘side hustle’ for Dekalb Tool & Die to try to produce some incremental income. There were no “Wall Control” employees, just a small warehouse with a single tool and die maker that would double as an “order fulfillment associate” on the occasion that the original WallControl.com website, which Richard’s grandmother built, pulled in an order.

In 2008, it became apparent that for the family business to survive they were going to have to produce their own branded product at scale to ensure jobs remained in-house and for the business to continue to move forward. Richard then turned his attention from tool and die to Wall Control to attempt this necessary pivot and his story with Wall Control began. Since that time, Richard has led Wall Control to significant growth while navigating two recessions.

Outside of Richard’s work at Wall Control he enjoys helping other business owners, operators, and entrepreneurs along their own paths to success by offering personal business coaching and advising through his website ConsultantSmallBusiness.com. Richard has developed an expansive and unique skillset growing and scaling Wall Control through a multitude of challenges to the successful brand and company it is today. Richard is happy to share his knowledge and experience with others who are looking to do the same within their own businesses.

About Wall Control

The Wall Control story began in 1968 in a small tool & die shop just outside Atlanta, Georgia. The first of three generations began their work in building a family-based US manufacturer with little more than hard work and the American Dream.

Over the past 50+ years, this family business has continued to grow and expand from what was once a small tool & die shop into an award-winning US manufacturer of products ranging from automobile components to satellite panels and now, the best wall-mounted tool storage system available today, Wall Control.

The Wall Control brand launched in 2003 and is a family-owned and operated business that not only produces a high-quality American Made product but sees the entire design, production, and distribution process happen under their own roof in Tucker, Georgia. Under that same roof, three generations of American Manufacturing are still hard at work creating the best tool storage products available today.

Shared Vision

LIVE from HAVEN 2022: Spencer, Shared Vision (Organization Conversation, Episode 33)

Spencer with Shared Vision talked with host Richard Grove about the process of creating a tool specifically for creators to interface with affiliates and make that accessible to consumers. Shared Vision streamlines the process for shopping lists and the links to purchase products and so simplifies the process for both creators and consumers. He and Richard discussed the app, the software creation process, HAVEN 2022, and much more.

This show was originally broadcast live from the 2022 HAVEN Conference held at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia.

Spencer with Shared Vision

Unlike a paycheck from an employer that you actively work for, passive income is money that you earn during your downtime.
Money that comes in even if you’re on vacation. Affiliate marketing (aka affiliate links) is one of the biggest tools that creators use to grow their passive income but what happens when those links stop working?
Passive income revenue decreases!
Shared Vision is helping creators reclaim that revenue one affiliate link shopping list at a time. Their app helps consumers easily build their shopping cart from the lists provided by creators.

Now she is back in Hawaii again, and Build and Create Home was born.

Liens and Preliens and Laughs Oh My with Amy Houk E10

Robert and J.J. meet up with Amy Houk, Chief Marketing/Product Officer with Prelien Pro Technologies to discuss all things liens and preliens. Amy is the authority and shares her wealth of knowledge with the guys, and shares the why behind Prelien Pro Technologies and the development of software for the world of construction. If you are a general contractor, subcontractor, or supplier this episode is a must have as a reference to often misunderstood statutes pertaining to the lien and prelien process and your rights.

General Contractors, Subcontractors and suppliers learn the answers to often misunderstood processes surrounding your lien rights. Prelien-Pro-Technologies-logo

Prelien Pro Technologies, Inc. began when a team of consultants were asked to develop an easier workflow for lien companies to manage the hundreds of prelien notices submitted to their company weekly. Once they dove into the structure and processes lien companies were utilizing, it became very obvious that the lack of “out-of-the-box” solutions was crippling this industry. Lien companies were spending 10’s of thousands of dollars to create custom, single-user solutions or relying on a dos-based, single desktop solution for software that was cumbersome, antiquated, and rigid. Shocked by what they found, they sought out the guidance of one of the most dynamic and successful CTO’s to wrestle the “ dot-com boom” they could find… one laptop, one monitor, and one hot conference room later, a dream team of developers, innovators, and consultants came together to form what would become Prelien Pro Technologies, Inc.

As they researched and learned more about this industry, they also found that construction companies were forced to submit their notice requests on an equally outdated interface. The team was shocked to hear that most construction companies weren’t too bothered by the legacy look and feel as most software they used at the time was just as clumsy. Realizing that the construction industry was ripe for a solution to weave together all of these processes and workflows, the team devised a strategy – to learn the lien management industry from the inside out. They achieved this by creating their own lien company, collaborating with the construction industry, and building a solution that solves all of the obvious (and not so obvious) issues this process had on the overall performance and cost of a project.

This strategy led to an immeasurable amount of input from the construction industry – not just from the builders, but also the suppliers, the funders, the developers, and the insurers. The team built relationships with every level of construction to prepare and plan for a development strategy that would lead them on a two-year journey of discovery, development, and some trial and error to create a single application – bringing together the multitude of excel spreadsheets, three-ring binders, filing cabinets, fax machines, and single-task applications that “solved” their day-to-day issues.

Today, Prelien Pro Technologies, Inc. has fully deployed its construction lien software (cls) application to the captive lien company with a second onboarding in mid to late 4th quarter, 2021. That application currently supports 466 construction firms, 1500 users, and 10 lien preparation professionals. They have also created the only fully embedded experience with Procore technologies and have a focus group of our target general contractors currently using the prelien pro application. Because of the strategic development plan outlined by our CTO, all further development is 75% (or more) completed as the foundational Prelien Pro Technologies, Inc. platform fully supports the additional products and services.

Amy-Houk-MAC-and-BleuAmy Houk’s history as a founding member of Prelien Pro has seen the company grow from a handful of valued relationships to a large and growing community of clients, industry partners, association affiliations, and friendships.

Amy brings a cool and dynamic element to the team. Her ability to forge relationships and create an open dialogue with clients has been a vital asset to our team. She brings over 20 years experience offering a variety of services and consultation to businesses.

Her expertise and knowledge with construction companies and the industry has made her a pivotal addition to the team.

When Amy isn’t working with the team, she spends her time promoting women’s equality in construction, donating her time to construction associations, going on photo safaris with her husband of 15 years, taking construction pics, traveling, and spending time with family (especially her new grand baby).

Anika's DIY Life

LIVE from WORKBENCHcon 2022: Anika of Anika’s DIY Life (Organization Conversation, Episode 8)

Anika had no experience when she picked up a power tool eight years ago to make her daughter some furniture. Anika, owner of Anika’s DIY Life sat down with Richard Grove at WORKBENCHcon 2022 to introduce herself, share how she got into the DIY community,  and more. Organization Conversation is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Anika, Anika’s DIY Life

Anika, Anika’s DIY Life

Anika grew up in India. Growing up, she was always crafty – the handmade card, macrame, embroidery, and a little crafts kind of person. She had ZERO exposure to power tools or DIY – it wasn’t really a thing in India.

Anika came to the United States 18 years ago for grad school. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, got married, and got a job.

Eight years ago, on a quest for some cute furniture for her daughter, Anika stumbled onto the world of DIY blogs! She realized she could do this! She picked up a power drill for the very first time and built her first project.
