Alicyn McLeod/Atlanta Tax

Alicyn McLeod with Atlanta.Tax is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner with nearly 20 years of tax experience. She specializes in tax planning and compliance for closely-held businesses, individuals, and not-for-profits.

A Georgia native, Alicyn is a graduate of Augusta University where she earned a Bachelors in Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration. She is an animal-lover who wanted to be a veterinarian as a child and accidentally stumbled into accounting while working her way through school. She enjoys applying her specialized knowledge to her clients’ business and tax situations to help them understand and navigate confusing issues that have a large impact on their finances.

Alicyn resides near Chastain Park and is an active member of the Atlanta business community. She has contributed her professional skills over the years by volunteering with several organizations including serving as President of the American Woman’s Society of CPAs – Georgia Affiliate, Treasurer of Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta (a German cultural center), and serving on the finance committees for the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. Alicyn is a 2016-2017 participant in the Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute (PALI) sponsored by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, as well as a 2018 participant in the Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s Women on Board program.

Chloe Moore/Financial Staples

In addition to promoting financial literacy through volunteer efforts, Chloe also focuses on the cultivation of female and minority financial planners.  She serves on the advisory committee for the XY Planning Network and is an active member of several professional organizations. Through her leadership, contribution, and volunteerism within the financial services industry, Chloe was recognized as one of Investment News Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2017.

Cherish De la Cruz/De la Cruz Law, LLC

Cherish De la Cruz established De la Cruz Law, LLC in 2013 to help multi-generational families plan their futures. In 2012, Cherish experienced losing a close family member to cancer. While taking care of her aunt’s affairs, she realized the stress and unnecessary hardship of not having a comprehensive and customized estate plan. As a mother of three young children and as the daughter of aging baby boomer parents, Cherish is both personally and professionally fluent in the complexities that arise in ensuring that family members are protected with life and estate planning. With her background and expertise in investments and insurance, Cherish works collaboratively with advisors in helping families and small businesses develop tailored estate plans.

Community involvement and leadership has always been important to Cherish. She is the Immediate Past President of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA), Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, a founding Board Member of XPX – The Exit Planning Exchange and Board Member of Mosaic Georgia (formerly the Gwinnett Sexual Assault Center and Children’s Advocacy Center). She is also a graduate of the 34th Class of Leadership Gwinnett (2019). In 2017, the Georgia Asian Times named Cherish as one of the Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia.

Adam Gaslowitz, Ronnie Genser, Jeff Scroggin, Craig Frankel

On this episode of “Wealth Matters”, hosts Craig Frankel and Adam Gaslowitz discuss how to anticipate and avoid issues at the “administrative” stage of estate planning with their guests Ronnie Genser and Jeff Scroggin.

Ronnie Genser/Bereavement Navigators

Prior to founding Bereavement Navigators in 2012, Ronnie Genser’s professional background included over 25 years in international and domestic sales, marketing, training, and consulting. In addition to her sales and marketing career, from 2006-2008 Ronnie served on the Board of Directors of the Lewy Body Dementia Association. As a board member and subsequent volunteer, over a five-year period (2006-2011) she created the organization’s support group network of almost 100 support groups, which spanned 36 states and the province of Ontario, Canada. This support group network continues to provide families and care givers the resources to cope with the life changes wrought by Lewy Body Dementia, an incurable, progressive disease that currently ravages 1.3 million Americans.

Ronnie’s successful career path took an unexpected turn after the sudden death of her husband, Dr. Sandy Weinberg, an Associate Professor of Healthcare Management at Clayton State University, as well as an internationally-renowned FDA Regulatory Affairs consultant to the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biologics industries. He died unexpectedly on October 8, 2011 at age 61, after complications from a heart attack, having spent two days in the ICU at Northside Hospital in Atlanta and seven days in the cardio-vascular ICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The things Ronnie learned about what she needed to do after Sandy’s death including how to organize the numerous and unexpected tasks, the resources she found, and the tips she learned, she now shares in her work as a Bereavement Navigator with other widows, widowers, adult children, and other relatives who have lost a loved one, in hopes that her knowledge will make this process and the journey ahead easier for them.

Because Ronnie’s experience also taught her that being well-prepared before a death is one of the greatest gifts you can give a loved one, she also works with healthy couples and individuals to prepare, or in some cases better prepare, their affairs before their own deaths. As a result, Bereavement Navigators offers them and their loved ones the priceless gift of peace-of-mind, knowing the potentially myriad tasks their loved ones will face after their death will be much easier, less time-consuming, and most importantly, less stressful.
