On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Kara Wily, who’s hot new exercise dvd Element: Slim & Tone Pilates dvd is available now. Her Pilates technique is sure to give you that dancer body that you’ve always wanted.Kara is a former dance with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and was the Director of the Pilates Program at the Performing Arts School in Vienna.  Her dvd shows you how to lay down in order to get a great workout. She trained with a protege of Joseph Pilates and uses a lot of the Romana Kryanowksa technique she learned. This technique is great for people who are already in pretty good shape. Sara is a licensed marriage-family therapist as well as a life and fitness coach. She is an expert in women and families health and wellness. Before we got too far into the show we gave our listeners an update on the SobeFit magazine Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Weight Loss Challenge. Week thirteen has ended and Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy have lost almost 30 pounds. Somehow Dr Fitness gained weight this week. We are now closing in on our goal of a 50 pound weight loss. Today was the day professional photographer Ellis Vener came into the studio to photograph us for our article in SobeFit magazine. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy opened the show with Marta Montenegro with SobeFit magazine. She shared some great information about what is in the new How to Be Healthier issue of SobeFit magazine with Olympic swimmer Gary Hall on the cover. Marta talked about the fact that many diseases Americans suffer from are preventable if you eat right, exercise more and lower your stress levels. Included in this issue are specific tips you can do today to live a healthier life. Marta explained that the most under rated supplement is Dr Fitness’ favorite Omega 3 or fish oil. But people who have breathing issues like asthma might have to be a little more careful. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Desi Bartlett who has been teaching exercise, health and wellness for about 20 years. She has trained some celebrities like Alicia Silverstone and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. But her passion is helping moms get their bodies, and their fitness levels, back through yoga. She still teaches Mommy and Me Yoga, Pre and Post Natal Yoga and Mothers Living Fit classes in Los Angeles. But the big news is Desi is the host of Acacia’s  new Prenatal Yoga exercise dvd. Desi says that yoga is primarily for flexibility and that you should supplement yoga with some cardio and strength training. She also explained that yoga works great for women going through all three trimesters of their pregnancy but that it is important to do the yoga a little differently when you are pregnant. She also said that some instructors who have never been pregnant have a harder time adapting their exercise workouts to their pregnant clients becuase they themselves have never experienced being pregnant. Desi also shared some great tips about how to choose a yoga studio. She said to always talk to the manager and make sure the manager matches you up with an instructor or classes that meets your skill level and objectives.
