In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share some of their favorite mobile fitness apps. As more and more of us use smart phones like the iPhone, Android based phones and even the Blackberry you can take advantage of the apps that run on each of those devices to improve your fitness levels. These apps can track your runs and workouts, keep your music and even add the ability to share your workouts with your friends.  Some of these apps cost a few bucks but some are also free. We experiment with apps all the time – you just download them to your phone – try them for awhile then delete them if they don’t work for you. for a few bucks you can try Cardio trainer for Runners – RunKeeper app is free if you want to go in that direction. iFitness is a paid app that tracks your strength training exercises.   Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Roy S Johnsion Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Fitness magazine. Roy said that action movie star Jason Statham (star of  Stallone’s new movie The Expendables – Jason also mentions who he thought was the biggest tough guy on set – fyi he was MMA champ Randy Couture) was on their cover and he shared his awesome workout. Roy also talked about the LeBron move to Miami and how it would impact his legacy. Check out this months Men’s Fitness magazine for more challenging workouts like the 5×5 workout and the Pain workout to boost gains (less rest between sets – more lifting). This issue also features some man meal recipes that are quick and easy to prepare – like Cajun Stew – and some breakfast ideas for weight loss that are sure to jump start your metabolism first thing in the morning. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Cal Pozo, the legendary fitness and dance producer of over 300 best selling exercise  video titles. He shared some hilarious behind the scenes stories about your favorite fitness video stars. Stories about how some women don’t like sweating on camera and what he does about that. He talked about Bob Harper’s exercise dvd. Did you know that almost all exercise dvds are unscripted and are done with only a day or two of rehearsals? In fact everyone you see on the fitness video might have just met only days before the shoot. Cal talked about the fans who love exercise dvds and he believes that anyone can dance – people of any body size can learn to dance and do any of the exercise routines if they put their mind to it. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on our good friend Karla Walsh. Karla parlayed her Healthful Bites blog into a job at Fitness magazine. So because of that, she came on to share the highlights of this months Fitness magazine. She talked about an article that gave you tips on how to get some fitness in your desk job. She said switch form a chair to an exercise ball and to stand up whenever you are on the phone. This issue also has the Healthy Food Awards so you can see who won best pizza, best Mexican food and best ice cream – among others.
