Welcome to today’s episode of That’s The Ticket! podcast! Today, we are joined by someone
who sits at the intersection of sports and entertainment and currently serves as President of the Harlem Globetrotters & Herschend Entertainment Studios.

Dawkins, who spent 17 years at Viacom (now ViacomCBS), was elevated to the position of Executive Vice President at Nickelodeon where he oversaw and grew some of that brand’s most beloved and successful networks. Dawkins also launched the Nickelodeon Sports initiative which saw him strike strategic partnerships with the likes of NFL, NASCAR, the PGA Tour, MLS, WWE, and a variety of pro athletes.

After his run at Nickelodeon, he went on to lead the internationally renowned junior golf nonprofit The First Tee, and was most recently Founder and CEO of Rock Hill Media Ventures. There, he forged partnerships with the National Basketball Players Association and Believe Entertainment, the developing studio of Dear Basketball – the Oscar® and Emmy® Award-winning short film from Kobe Bryant – and The LeBrons, an animated series from the mind of LeBron James.

The Globetrotters content expansion into millions of homes worldwide is powered by its parent company’s in-house media arm, Herschend Entertainment Studios (HES), which develops and produces 360 franchises of wholesome entertainment worldwide for TV, film, publishing, licensing, and other media. Hit programming from HES includes the internationally syndicated animated series Chuggington and the PBS KIDS animated series Splash and Bubbles.

Welcome to today’s episode of That’s The Ticket! podcast! Today, we are joined by someone
who plays a key role in promoting women’s college basketball in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball League.

Jackie Carson joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in July 2023, where she currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Women’s Basketball.

Carson brings a wealth of administrative experience, having served as one of only two coaches on the NCAA Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee (WBOC) and as a member of the WBCA Board of Directors.

Carson, who was the head women’s basketball coach at Furman for 13 years after spending five seasons as an assistant coach at James Madison, will serve as a member of the ACC’s Leadership Team and is responsible for planning, implementing, and executing the overall management of the league’s women’s basketball operation. She will serve as the primary liaison to the ACC women’s basketball head coaches and committee members and will oversee the league’s women’s basketball supervisor of officials. Carson’s responsibilities will also consist of the management and oversight of the annual Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, regular-season conference scheduling, liaison work with the conference’s television partners and the national basketball organizations including, but not limited to, the NCAA, WBCA, USA Basketball and Play4Kay.

A former Furman women’s basketball student-athlete, Jackie earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science/Pre-Medicine. She is the first person in the Southern Conference basketball history – men’s or women’s – to be named both the conference Coach of the Year and conference Player of the Year. In addition, she was named to the SoCon 100th Anniversay Women’s Basketball Team and will be inducted in the Southern Conference Hall of Fame in March 2026. She is also a member of the C.D. Hylton High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Furman University Hall of Fame and had her jersey retired in 2009.

Prior to her coaching tenure at Furman, Carson spent five seasons as Associate Head Coach and Assistant Coach at James Madison, two seasons at Bucknell University and one season with the Fairfax Stars Nike EYBL AAU Program that won the 2002 AAU National Championship.

Carson’s national leadership also includes her serving as an Executive Committee member and current President of the Women of Color Coaches Network, which is an organization comprised of current or former Division I Black female head coaches and administrators across the country.

Major Renovation Plans Announced for Gas South Arena

Approaching it’s 22nd birthday, Gas South Arena has been the entertainment hub in Gwinnett County for over two decades. As the campus continues to develop, Gas South District President & CEO Stan Hall announced on February 18, 2025 that the arena is in the final planning stages of a major renovation.

Designed to elevate the arena to match the excellence of the entire campus, the renovations will introduce a fresh modern-look with state-of the art amenities and enhanced functionality. From upgraded seating to improved guest experiences, every detail is crafted to create a more seamless and dynamic environment for events of all kinds.

About Gas South Arena

Gas South Arena is a vibrant, versatile venue showcasing a multitude of concerts, sporting events, family shows, and more. It is home to the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators, NLL’s Georgia Swarm, and APV’s Atlanta Vibe. The arena features various food and beverage locations throughout the venue and a removable ice rink that accommodates ice entertainment shows, and is central to many hotels, restaurants, and shopping.

The arena has a capacity of 13,000 and features a state-of-the-art house reduction system which can quickly convert the space to a 3,500 theater-style setting or a large convention and tradeshow space with a capacity of 10,000 attendees. The arena also includes 30 corporate suites, two party suites, club level seats, a spacious concourse, wider seats, a high-end sound system and acoustical enhancements to provide the best experience for every event.
