Return guest, Anne Keeton, Founder and President of Grief to Relief, defines grief as “conflicting feelings about a change or end to a familiar pattern or behavior”. While we commonly think about grief in relation to a death, catastrophic injury or illness, grief can surprise us in many more mundane circumstances, like a child going to college, a move, or a change in health status. Sometimes the change can be a good change, but creates mixed emotions in an individual. This is a form of grief!
Handling grief is like having a flat tire. It doesn’t fix itself. There are certain key steps that need to be taken in order to repair the damage. And no one is immune. It will happen to you! And often, loss breeds more loss – “when it rains, it pours”! Listen in as Anne provides some advice about developing a Grief Recovery skill set.
