Todd Evans/Jackson EMC

Jackson EMC is a non-profit electrical service provider serving parts of 10 north Georgia counties. The cooperative was started by farmers in Jackson County 77 years ago. They serve over 100,000 meters in Gwinnett County. Jackson Electric Membership Corporation, one of the largest electric cooperatives in Georgia and the nation, is headquartered 50 miles northeast of Atlanta in Jefferson, GA. The cooperative serves more than 219,400 meters in total.

North Johnson/Gwinnett Braves

The Gwinnett Braves are the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Their 72 home games are played at Coolray Field and 2016 will be their 8th season in Gwinnett County. G-Braves alumni include Freddie Freeman, Craig Kimbrel, Jason Heyward, Julio Teheran, Matt Wisler and Mike Foltyniewicz.

The state of professional sports in Gwinnett County is the topic on this special edition of “Gwinnett Business Radio“. Taped on the “Get In The Game” television studio at the Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center in Lawrenceville, host Mike Sammond interviews the leaders of Gwinnett’s professional sports entities.

Sports is big business in Gwinnett. On this edition of “On the Money“, host Joe Moss talks with Stan Hall, the Executive Director of the Gwinnett Sports Commission, about the professional and amateur sports landscape and what lies ahead. Topics include the economic impact of sports in Gwinnett, and what the county’s four major sports properties mean to the area (Gwinnett Braves, Atlanta Gladiators, Georgia Swarm and Mitsubishi Electric Classic PGA).

Stan Hall, Gwinnett Sports CommissionThe mission of the Gwinnett Sports Commission (GSC) is to foster economic development through coordinating and developing Gwinnett’s role as a leading site for sports events involving youth, collegiate, amateur and professional organizations.

Gwinnett is home to two of metro Atlanta’s premier minor league teams – baseball’s Gwinnett Braves (AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) and hockey’s Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins). The G-Braves play in the state-of-the-art Coolray Field, while the Gladiators thrill the crowds at the Infinite Energy Arena.

The Georgia Swarm, Gwinnett’s new professional lacrosse team, is a part of the National Lacrosse League and will begin their first season at the Infinite Energy Arena starting in January of 2016.

The Mitsubishi Electric Classic, a PGA TOUR Champions event, is played annually at the prestigious TPC Sugarloaf. The 2016 tournament is scheduled for April 11-17 with 81 PGA TOUR Champions professionals competing for a $1.8 million purse.

Ernst & Partners is a law firm that handles Personal Injury, Real Estate Closings, Bankruptcy, Criminal and Divorce.

John A. Ernst Jr. is a graduate of Emory University and University of Georgia, School of Law. Mr. Ernst graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After graduating from Emory, Mr. Ernst was the assistant to Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, in which capacity he had the opportunity to meet with the leaders of the state and from around the world. Mr. Ernst is also a veteran of many political campaigns around the state. He then continued his education and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. During his tenure in law school, Mr. Ernst was a member of the prosecutorial clinic where he served as a prosecutor in the Athens-Clarke County District Attorney’s office and was a summer clerk for the Honorable John J Ellington, Georgia Court of Appeals. After law school, Mr. Ernst served as the Attorney of the Majority Caucus in the Georgia House of Representatives for the 2004 Legislative Session. John opened his own law firm in 2005 where he handles Real Estate Transactions, Bankruptcy cases, and Personal Injury Clients.

Mr. Ernst is licensed to practice before all Georgia Trial Courts and the Georgia Supreme Court and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Ernst is a title agent for Stewart Title.
