Bleach is your friend – use it on cutting boards, plastic drinking containers and kitchen counters. Buy a thermometer for your refrigerator and make sure it doesn’t dip below 40 degrees F. Stephanie is a community activist in the Oakland and Richmond California area and is the author of three books on crime prevention. She is launching a new program called Safe Kids Now and she explained how her Safe Kids Now program helps keep kids safe. Neighbor involvement is the key to the program and she spoke about some ways to engage your neighbors into the program. After all it is for everyone’s benefit to make the neighborhood safer. She said a simple way to get to know your neighbors is to walk the neighborhood and say Hi. She also said that playing in your yard is a great way for kids to get exercise and also meet your neighbors. She put to rest Dr Fitness’ fear of having his kid abducted when she explained that there are only about 135 kids abducted by strangers each year. She also said that ahving a relationship with the police in your area is a great investment of your time. Her books also help you deal with gangs, drug dealers and graffiti as well.
