Palaniswamy “Raj” Rajan is currently the co-founder, Chairman & CEO of Virima Technologies, Inc., an IT Operations and Datacenter software developer serving the fortune 5000 companies. He brings more than 15 years experience in the technology industry and combines a deep understanding of current technologies with the ability to articulate the application of these technologies in various business contexts and models. A highly versatile and proven entrepreneur, he has co-founded several ventures including, Vigilar, Inc, a leading network security technology firm; eLaunchpad, LLC, an early stage venture capital firm/incubator focusing on Internet infrastructure and network security technologies; and Resourcis, an executive recruiting firm. During his tenure at Vigilar, he conceived the company’s business plan and methodology, raised venture capital funding, recruited a talented management team and grew annual revenues from $0 in 2000 to $32M in 2005 in probably the most difficult technology industry climate. Another previous success, VerticalOne, a financial aggregator; was sold to S1 in 1999 in a deal valued at $166 million.

Mr. Rajan serves on the Board of Directors of the above companies and as well on the advisory boards of several early stage technology firms around the country. A leader in the business community, he is also involved in several professional and community related organizations. Mr. Rajan was instrumental in establishing the Atlanta CEO Council, a non-profit networking group of more than 1000 CEOs, CxOs, and investors in the Southeast. Mr. Rajan served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CEO council from 1999 through 2011 and is currently one of its Board members. Mr. Rajan also co-founded and is the current President of the Atlanta Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), a national mentoring organization for entrepreneurs.

Barry Patel has a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Mercer University and started his career in clinical research with Warner Lambert, before moving to medical affairs with Merck. In 1995 Barry left Merck to found Total Therapeutic Management, a unique physician focused quality improvement and education outreach company that services the healthcare industry’s needs for data driven solutions. Under his leadership, TTM has been recognized as a leader in the healthcare industry providing a unique way of improving quality through the abstraction, analysis and dissemination of vital health information. Since 1995, TTM has worked with hundreds of health systems and managed care organizations. As President, Barry maintains many client relationships and is hands-on as it relates to strategy development and implementation among various facets of the organization. The company has been recognized by various business publications for its entrepreneurial approach to solving problems within healthcare. TTM was acquired on December 31st, 2013 by Indegene, a leading global provider of solutions to pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations.

Karen Robinson is the EVP – Business Development with NanoLumens.  Karen leads the sales team and oversees all new business development and marketing at NanoLumens, a privately held corporation engaged in the research, product development, marketing and sales of unique flexible and fixed large-format LED displays that address a yawning technology gap in the $14 billion digital display industry. NanoLumens technology is not constrained by standard sizes and shapes, or by the weight, noise and cost issues traditionally associated with commercial LED products. Robinson has been instrumental in the planning, strategy and growth of NanoLumens.

Karen is a serial entrepreneur who has been CEO of four different high-growth, venture or angel-backed companies over the last 20 years. Most recently, Karen was president and CEO of Prime Point Media, one of the largest alternative out of home advertising companies in the United States which she successfully led to a lucrative exit when it was acquired by a publicly traded company in 2006.

In 2012, Karen received the Inspiritor Award presented by Turknett Leadership Group. She has been recognized by Atlanta-based Women in Technology when she won its Woman of the Year in Technology Awards in 2000, and is the incoming President of the Atlanta chapter of TIE, an organization that fosters entrepreneurship globally. Karen also serves as the Governors Chairman and board member for Opportunity International, the largest faith-based microfinancing organization serving over 20 countries.

Karen is also an investor and board member at numerous private and public companies in the United States and Canada. Her passions are her family and her involvement in micro-lending in both Sub-Saharan Africa and Central America.

The organization will be holding it’s marquee event, TiECON Southeast 2013 on Saturday, April 27. The event marks the chapter’s 15th anniversary and to date is the largest one-day professional networking conference for entrepreneurs. Attendees have the opportunity to learn from workshops, keynote speakers, networking and even pitch opportunities. TiE Atlanta partners with other global chapters from Florida and the Carolinas to host the event. It is designed to introduce attendees from all stages of the entrepreneurial lifecycle to the essential skills and traits of the super entrepreneur – who is in relentless pursuit of success.

Marc Gorlin/Kabbage 

Marc Gorlin is a serial entrepreneur who has built several tech companies including Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) and VerticalOne. His dad started numerous small businesses when he was a kid and he saw firsthand the impact entrepreneurs have on the economy. He co-founded Kabbage to speed up the process of funding small businesses. He likes to say that Kabbage provides a small business cash more quickly than a bank can cash a check.

Steve Brumer/151 Advisors 

Steve Brumer has over 25 years experience in the wireless/mobile space and has unprecedented knowledge of the industry. During his accomplished career, Steve has been a dynamic entrepreneur with proven expertise in sales, marketing and channel development. His specialty is helping wireless/mobile products and services find the right distribution and channels to ensure commercial success.

Before joining 151 Ventures, Steve co-founded and served as CEO of Wireless Rain which helped wireless carriers, manufacturers and solution providers build channel programs for B2B products, machine-to-machine products, and professional services.

The Atlanta CEO Council is an organization of executives invited to exclusive events for the purpose of developing relationships, promoting entrepreneurship and investing in the community.

Raj Rajan/Virima

Palaniswamy “Raj” Rajan is co-founder of Virima the world’s first IT Business Operations Automation (IT-BOATM) software that provides a single solution to integrate all aspects of an IT organization. Prior to starting up Virima, Mr. Rajan was the cofounder, President and CEO of Vigilar, Inc, a leading network security technology firm. A highly versatile entrepreneur, he has cofounded several ventures, including eLaunchpad, an early stage venture capital firm/incubator focusing on Internet infrastructure and network security technologies; Emerald Systems, a boutique technology consulting firm; and ResourcIS, an IT recruiting firm. Another earlier success, VerticalOne, a financial aggregator, was sold to S1 in 1999 in a deal valued at $166M. Mr. Rajan serves on the Board of Directors of the above companies and on the advisory boards of several early stage technology firms nationwide.

Mr. Rajan is also involved in several professional and community-related organizations. He was instrumental in establishing the Atlanta CEO Council, and currently serves as its Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Rajan cofounded and serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), a national mentoring organization for technology entrepreneurs. He serves on the Board of Councilors for The Carter Center (President Jimmy Carter’s nonprofit initiative), a leadership advisory group promoting understanding of, and support for, The Carter Center and its activities among Georgia’s private-sector opinion leaders. Mr. Rajan was also selected to Georgia Trend’s “40 Under 40′′ Rising Stars in 2000.

Mr. Rajan is also committed to a variety of charitable organizations focused on providing support and education. Beneficiaries include Raksha, (meaning protection in several South Asian languages) a Georgia nonprofit support network for South Asians in distress, and CRY (Child Relief and You),  a US-based group helping deprived children.

Mr. Rajan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology. Mr. Rajan was born in Coimbatore, India and raised in Bangalore, India.

Glenn McGonnigle/TechOperators

Glenn McGonnigle is a General Partner at TechOperators. Prior to launching TechOperators, Glenn was most recently Chairman and CEO of Atlanta-based VistaScape Security Systems, a leading provider of enterprise intelligent video surveillance software where he was recruited by the company’s board to raise capital and grow the business. He subsequently oversaw the successful sale of the company to Siemens Building Technologies. An authority on IT and physical security convergence and a frequent contributor and expert speaker for numerous industry publications and events, Glenn helped shape President Bush’s 2005 National Strategy for Maritime Security.

Previously, Glenn was a co-founder and top executive of Atlanta-based Internet Security Systems (ISS) where he helped raise initial venture capital and launch the business. For 7 years, he led the business development team in developing sales channels and entering the managed security services market. During his tenure, the company grew from startup to revenues of over $225 million and was recently acquired by IBM for $1.5 billion.

Prior to ISS, he was President and co-founder of Data Integrity Services Corporation, an early-stage provider of WAN-based data management services. Throughout his 24 year career, Glenn has remained focused on emerging technologies and has held a variety of sales and marketing executive positions during the high growth stages of EMC, Epoch Systems, Borland, and Wang Laboratories.

He is an active member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and sits on the board of the Venture Atlanta Conference. In addition, he has served as Entrepreneur in Residence and CapVenture coach supporting Georgia’s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC). McGonnigle holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia.

Glenn oversees the fund’s investments in Immunet, JouleX, and Endgame Systems.

Peter Baron/Carabiner Communications

Peter Baron is principal of Carabiner Communications, where he acts as a senior-level consultant, offering advice to clients on product positioning and how to leverage the latest market trends. Through more than two decades of high-tech PR experience, Peter has the skills to recognize new opportunities in the marketplace and help clients prepare strategies accordingly. He has worked with entrepreneurs spanning the technology ecosystem including telecommunications, networking, healthcare technology and enterprise software solutions. Peter received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and PR from the University of Utah.

Greg Harley/Burr & Forman

Greg is a partner in the Burr & Forman’s Commercial Litigation group with a concentration on business litigation, class action defense and employment matters. Greg has extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation and has handled disputes on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants on a broad range of issues including breach of contract, fraud, bad faith, trade secrets, defamation and unfair business practices claims. While Greg’s practice is centered in Georgia and Alabama, he has represented clients in matters across the United States.

Greg’s clients include national banking institutions, insurers and one of Georgia’s largest residential contracting companies. Greg also currently serves as national litigation counsel for a diversified telecommunications company.
