Creative News

Enjoy this lunchtime chat with Alyssa and Mary Beth, clients at Creative Enterprises. Hear about Fun Fridays on campus, friendships and their personal interests. Understand what “work” means to each individual and learn the value of supported work environments- first hand.

Much of this conversation was centered around working adults with disabilities.

Each person who comes to Creative Enterprises is asked what their goals
are while they are here. If work is one of their goals, CE helps them go
through evaluation and training use the 14 C certificate. The Clients must go through
some education with the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and sign a form
confirming they do not want to become employed in the community. Our Campus sets them up in different evaluation situations to see what skills they already have.

This episode features Hosts Chrishell & Hanna, Personal Coaches at Creative Enterprises

Georgia House Bill 1125 puts our supported work programs in jeopardy. Please take a moment to understand why working with the 14C certificate is beneficial for organizations like Creative Enterprises.

Creative Enterprises was Incorporated as a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) Community Rehabilitation Program in 1979, they provide employment opportunities along with social and life skills training to individuals with developmental disabilities. This is accomplished through on- and off-site work training, job placement assistance, educational programs, community involvement events, and a variety of additional resources.

Connie Menser/Full Supply

Full Supply is a non-profit organization that was founded by Connie Menser in 2004 to enrich women’s relationships with Jesus Christ, teach application principles, and equip women for life and leadership. Through one-on-one mentoring and group mentoring, women gain confidence to share their faith, obtain practical tools for life, and discover their God-given passion and purpose. As a result, these women become leaders who mentor others for Christ, as well as leaders within their churches and communities. Some women start their own businesses, while others thrive where God already has them. In addition to helping women to grow in Christ and become Christian leaders, the ministry further impacts multitudes of women along their faith journey by leading workshops or teaching at events and conferences in the U.S. and abroad. It is by God’s grace, the ministry of Full Supply has expanded from the U.S. into Russia, Venezuela and Kenya.

Tempa Kohler/Special Kneads and Treats

Special Kneads and Treats is a 501c3 non-profit bakery with a core mission to try and ensure that any child in their community that has a birthday receives a birthday cake for free if the family cannot afford a cake. Their business focus is the hiring of special needs adults once they age out of county programs. They work with DFCS, Foster Care, and local food cooperative ministries, as well as many other local support groups to get these cakes into the hands of those in need. Special Kneads and Treats believe every child should have a birthday cake on their special day.
