On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Mitchell Yass, the author of the book Overpower Pain: The Strength Training Program that Stops Pain Without Drugs or Surgery. Mitchell is a licensed Physical Therapist and has spent years helping his patients avoid unnecessary drugs and surgery while freeing them from pain indefinitely. Mitchell explained that a lot of pain is caused by muscle weakness or muscle imbalance and that the right exercise can make your pain disappear. He said a lot of chronic pain is misdiagnosed as acute pain. He says that most doctors rely on x-rays or MRI’s for their initial diagnosis which then leads to an improper diagnosis and treatment plan.
