In this episode of Hello, Self… , host Patricia Leonard welcomed Matheus Clorado, a Brazilian native with a journey that spans diverse interests from chemistry to the media industry. Matheus shared his transformative journey from studying chemistry education and making rum in Key West to serving as a chemical specialist in the army, and finally pursuing his passion in the film and media industry.
Matheus highlighted some pivotal Hello, Self…moments that guided his career path, and he what he’s learned about the importance of listening to one’s inner voice, seizing opportunities, and believing in one’s dreams.

Mateus Clorado, Chemical Specialist, US Army

Matheus Clorado was born in Brazil and moved to the US when he was 19. Initially here for an exchange student program for Chemistry, he fell in love with the media industry, and decided to immigrate.
In the US, he made rum in Key West during his first first summer and eventually became a sommelier in California while working in restaurants while he returned to school and earned an Associate’s degree in Film.
During the pandemic, he enlisted in the Army, where he works right now as a Chemical Specialist.
Matheus plans to complete both a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and another in Film/Media this year once his military service is completed.
