Laura is a Principal in the Audit and Advisory department with HLB Gross Collins, P.C., one of Atlanta’s most well-known certified public accounting and consulting firms. She joined HLB Gross Collins P.C. with 16 years of public accounting experience and has extensive experience in managing audits and in the preparation of financial statements.

Laura is committed to making the assurance process run smoothly for her clients and looks for ways to help clients improve controls, strengthen management, enhance governance roles and oversight and streamline operations. She works diligently to facilitate positive changes and growth for her clients’ operations. As a trusted advisor, she gets to know each client in order to provide a customized approach to their assurance and accounting needs.

Laura leads the firm’s Manufacturing, Distribution and Supply Chain Practice, as well as the Employee Benefit Practice. Sharon Cook oversees the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s external affairs including, Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Government Relations functions. In her role, Cook directs Marketing and Brand Cultivation, External Communications, Internal Communications, Media Relations, Investor Relations, Reputational Risk, and Government and Industry Relations for the regional banker’s bank.

Cook joined FHLBank Atlanta in 2008 as Senior Marketing Communications Manager and earned promotions to Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications in 2011; First Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2015; and assumed her current role as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2020.

As an active volunteer in the community, Cook serves on the board of directors for the Partnership Against Domestic Violence; is a mentor for the WomenLead program at Georgia State University; is on the Georgia Bankers Association Women in Banking Committee; and has served on the Georgia Leadership Council Board for the Arthritis Foundation, chaired the marketing and publicity committee for the 25th Annual Hearts with Hope Gala, and co-chaired the Jingle Bell 5K Run in Atlanta.

Cook is a frequent speaker and thought leader on reputation risk management, including crisis communications specializing in cybersecurity response planning. Assistant Chief Gale Higginbotham commands the the Criminal Investigation Division for the Gwinnett County Police Department. This division includes criminal investigations, special investigations and the Crime Scene Unit.

She grew up in Gwinnett County and graduated from Meadowcreek High School. She went on to earn her Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Georgia, and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University in 2011. In 2014, she graduated from the 258^th Session of the FBI National Academy.

Assistant Chief Higginbotham began her career in 1996 and graduated from the 37^th Gwinnett County Police Academy. During her career, she worked in the Uniform Division at every rank to include Major. She worked as a DUI Task Force officer, a detective, and later a sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division. She also worked as the Assistant Commander of the Special Operations Section where she oversaw operations for the Motor Unit, Accident Investigation Unit, Red Light Camera Unit, School Crossing Guards, and the Crime Prevention Unit.

Assistant Chief Higginbotham served as a Major for over seven years. She served as the precinct commander of both the Gwinnett County West and East Precincts. She also served as the Police Academy Director for two years.
