Originally from Boston, Tania Becker spent a good bit of her childhood in Paris.  She moved to Manhattan at the age of ten.  Until 1987 she was a real estate agent in Manhattan.  In 1987 Tania married Kip Becker, and moved to Atlanta.  About seven years ago, her husband, in his early 50s at the time, died suddenly of a blood clot during knee surgery.  Faced with a gaping hole in her life, Tania needed something different to do.  While reading the New York Times one day (once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker…)she came across an article describing a program of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) for Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers.  Intrigued, Tania did more research, and decided to match her love for art and her formal art training with a mission to serve those dealing with the harsh realities of Alzheimer’s.  Tania is the Founder and Director of Arts4Alzheimers, a non-profit initiative to help bring meaning and happiness to early stage Alzheimer’s patients that stay in their own homes.  One of the primary outlets for her mission is a weekly class at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody.  To find out more, visit www.arts4alzheimers.com, email Tania directly at Tania@arts4alzheimers.com, or call her at 404-492-6181.

ResultsMatterRadio is pleased to have the Atlanta Technology Angels (“ATA”) join us for a three part series on Angel Investing.  The ATA is an organization comprised of active and accredited angel investors who share the goal of making informed, collaborative, early stage investments in promising Georgia based companies.  The discussions include a history of the ATA, the Georgia Angel Tax Credit Bill that investors can take advantage of, the operations of the ATA, as well as the detailed process entrepreneurs might go through to get a seat at the table with investors, and finally what investors are looking for from their entrepreneurs.  The information covered in this series is pertinent to the successful partnership between an investor and entrepreneur.

Part I of our three part series focuses on the background of angel investing; how it began and how it has progressed over the years.  Knox Massey and Ed Brown discuss the purpose of angel investing, how someone can become an angel investor, and the various funding options that an organization such as the ATA offers to entrepreneurs.  Knox gives us a brief history of the ATA and provides some recent success stories out of the organization.  He also discusses the benefits of the Georgia Angel Tax Credit Bill, which he authored.

Why do you do what you do?  What is the source for your values? Who shaped your life?  Are you shaping the lives of others?  Do these stories impact your work?  Do your memories of family dynamics impact your career?  When we think of writing and family, most thoughts go to creating a personal biography or having a ghost writer generate the story for us.  Today’s guests – Cecily Welch and Ami Davis – discuss their writing journeys and using letters and incidents to generate books that are  more then mere memoirs.  Cecily Welch wrote My Father Was . . . Right   Joe Nash-isms: A Dad’s Advice to His Daughter.  Letters to a Young Mom  is a collection of letters from older teen moms to younger teen moms. Amie Davis collected and edited the letters. Show host Tim Morrison will also weigh in from his experiences in writing his second book:   Letters to My Sons: a Father’s Faith Journey. Listen in to hear how these 3 professionals use stories from their lives to provide support and encouragement to others in their life journeys and careers.
