I’m very picky when it comes to chocolate. First of all, I only like Dark Chocolate….can’t stand milk chocolate. There is data out there to suggest that chocolate made from 70% cacao(the actual bean chocolate is made from) has antioxidant properties from Theobromine (a vasodilator that expands blood vessels) and the amino acid, Phenylethylamine. That’s good enough for me! I don’t eat tons of chocolate but when I want a sweet snack more than an apple or an orange this is my favorite. I came across this product several years ago and I’m so glad I did. I love the little tins the chocolate is packaged in and only 140 calories per tin, makes it the perfect snack. They make it in 50%, 60%, 70% cacao and trust me there all good, but I totally dig the 50’s. They sell them in variety packs so try them all. They are not sold in tons of stores yet so the best place to get them is online at www.sweetriot.com. I have spotted them at Whole Foods Market and in the cafe at Lifetime Fitness.
How To Choose An Exercise Program You’ll Actually Do

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to choose the right fitness program for you. Choosing an exercise program that fits is a little tricky. Most people don’t think much about it and just join a gym or they buy a treadmill. It is much better to choose an activity that you like to do rather than doing something that you think will whip you into shape. If you don’t really like to attend spin classes then you will probably quit at the first schedule conflict. So first get a doctor to check you out physically to get their blessing. Then pick something that requires you to move and fits your age and health. And don’t jump right in -check it out first – go to a class or take the exercise equipment for a test drive. Once you decide you like it then go for it. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. Count Calories. Lose Weight?

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how counting calories can help you lose weight. Studies say that their is a better chance for you to lose weight if you keep track of the amount of food (calories) you consume. By writing down what and when you are eating you have a greater awareness of how much and why you eat. Write things down as you eat and drink them rather than waiting until the end of the day and trying to remember – because invariably you will forget that handful of candy at your friends desk or that bite of hamburger your kid didn’t finish. And beware – restaurant calories are much higher for the same foods as home cooked meals because restaurants love to use a lot of butter in their dishes which adds lots of extra calories that you wouldn’t have at home. Remember, if you bite it – you write it. (Same with drinking – but I don’t have a rhyme for that.) Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. Essential Weight Loss Tips

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share some of our most essential tips to help you lose weight. Before you can begin to change any behaviors it is important to assess exactly where you stand in the present. So use a diary or journal and write down what and when and why you eat and exercise. Once you see where you are and decide you truly want to change then you are ready to tackle one behavioral change. Start slowly. A first change might be to drink less sweetened beverages each day – with the objective to cut them all out over time because you don’t want to be drinking your calories. Another change might be to add some exercise or fitness into your daily routine. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
