BRX Pro Tip: How to Test Your Systems
Stone Payton: [00:00:00] Welcome back to Business RadioX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Today’s topic, Lee, how to test your systems.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:10] Yeah. It’s important to make sure that your systems are effective in communicating what you want them to be communicating and doing what you want them to do. A simple way to test them is just write down the system or the process you’re trying to explain, and as simple as in terms as possible as if you’re explaining it to a child. If you can clearly explain what you do or what you want a child to do and the child understands it and they truly understand it, then it’ll be easy for you to explain it to someone who isn’t as familiar with the subject as you are.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:45] A lot of times we make assumptions because we’re so immersed in our stuff that we think that everybody else understands the language, the terminology, and some of the strategies, and exercises that we do that we implement every day. And they don’t always understand or they miss steps. And if you can explain it to a child, then you know you’re on your way to effectively explaining it to an adult. And remember, teaching a person that’s new at this is a great way to get clear on your own messaging, your own instructions, and a tighter, more effective processes.

BRX Pro Tip: Successful Client Onboarding
Stone Payton: [00:00:00] And we are back with Business RadioX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, let’s chat a little bit about some disciplines for successful client onboarding.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:13] Yeah. Onboarding is an important part of the process of the selling. And I think a lot of people lose track of it. They get all happy when they sold something and then they kind of lose track of keeping the momentum going once you have made that sale. And when you have an onboarding process, it’s important to make sure that every step, especially the early steps, are very clear and very simple. This eliminates miscommunications and inaction. Any type of confusion quickly moves in the client or prospect being overwhelmed, which inevitably leads to inaction.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:45] So, make sure that you’re clear in your action steps. Have a communication system that nips inaction in the bud very quickly. You’ve got to make sure that if something has stopped, you better kind of jump in there as quickly as possible to keep the momentum going. Anything you can do to reduce as much friction as possible while keeping your prospect or client gaining momentum early with some sort of win or some sort of kind of proof of progress, this will often lead to a more successful outcome and a happier client.

BRX Pro Tip: Focus on Fewer Things
Stone Payton: [00:00:00] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, it really is important if you’re going to get maximum results, we have to exercise the discipline to focus on fewer things.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:15] Yeah. It is much better to be spectacular at a few things than just being okay at a lot of things, especially in a small business. Don’t be afraid to relentlessly prune your lowest performing offerings and the work that isn’t really becoming effective or paying off. Don’t be afraid to fire your lowest paying clients who are causing you the most stress. Less is more for a small business, as long as you’re less is pretty awesome. So, focus on being great at fewer things and you will be a lot less stressed, you’ll be happier, and your business will grow.

BRX Pro Tip: Be the Go To Person in Your Niche
Stone Payton: [00:00:00] And we are back with Business RadioX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, you say so often, “Be the go-to person in your niche.”
Lee Kantor: [00:00:11] Yeah. I think it’s important to, again, differentiate yourself from everybody else in your business community. And you want to get to that status of the go-to person. You want to be the person that people go to when they have a need. So, how do you do that? Something we do very well at Business RadioX is we reverse engineer things. So, if you want to be the go-to person, what are some of the things you can reverse engineer in order to be that person? Do something that builds community. That’s something that if you can do that effectively, then you’re going to be indispensable. So, build that community for the niche you want to serve.
Lee Kantor: [00:00:50] Know all the players. Kind of understand who’s great, who’s okay, who’s a specialist, who’s not so good. If you know all the players, and you know who is the best in class at a certain thing, you become indispensable. What associations, what events, what groups are must-attend? Be visible at those events, serve those events, volunteer, take leadership positions on those events and those associations. What kind of thought leadership do you have that you can create individually or you can curate and share with your community? If you do those things, you’re going to become indispensable. You become the go-to person in that niche.
Lee Kantor: [00:01:32] And the more of these kind of things you can do to be the go-to person, guess what? You’re the hub of that network, and you are the go-to person. You are indispensable. You’re going to be the place that people go to when they want whatever it is your a business is. So, I think it’s a great aspiration for everybody to try to be the go-to person. And in order to do that, you have to do the work, and you have to separate yourself from everybody else and make it happen.
