About Your Host

Jane McCracken returns to ATDC as a Startup Catalyst, having started her career here many years ago. She then moved into venture capital and investment banking both in the United States and Europe before joining an early-stage, medical diagnostics company as chief financial officer.  During her time there, she raised $60 million and completed eight international acquisitions. The company was listed on both the London and Oslo stock exchanges.

Jane then worked with two venture-backed companies.  She joined the founders of an online travel company as CEO, and took it from startup to the world’s second-largest hotel booking site before Travelocity acquired it. At the request of her venture investors, Jane then joined a computer games developer as CEO and turned around the faltering enterprise before it was sold to a NASDAQ-listed games company.

Most recently, Jane was CEO of an oncology-focused clinical research company, which grew from startup to a multinational firm with $15 million in annual revenue and offices across Europe and the United States.  The company was financed through its own cash flow and was sold in early 2012 to a larger clinical research organization.

Jane continues to work with fast growing companies — in interim and full-time positions — as a consultant, board member, and angel investor. In addition, Jane has served on boards for public and private companies, as well as government-related and non-profit organizations. She is a frequent speaker and panelist at conferences, companies, and universities and is an active volunteer in her community. Jane obtained her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and her master’s degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Stone Payton: [00:00:00] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, I’d like to talk today a little bit about belief systems and beliefs but, particularly, for today, what limiting beliefs are holding you back?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:17] Yeah, I think this goes to the heart of our work at Business RadioX. Some people, we’re able to sell some people on kind of what this could do, and they may not believe it all the way, or they might be a little skeptical when they get started. And it isn’t until they really see it in action where they really, truly believe that what we told them was true. And I think that the sooner you can get to that point where you believe that this platform and service is effective, then the faster that you can sell more things because, then, you changed how you think about what we’re doing. You’re not trying to sell somebody something. You’re trying to help them get a result that you believe that the platform is going to deliver.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:59] So, once that switch flips, I think it takes your business to a whole other level. And this is something that, for us, it’s happened many, many years ago that we’ve seen this service work, and we’ve seen it effectively help people create relationships with people that they thought were unattainable really elegantly, very quickly, and very effectively. We’ve seen it generate thousands, hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars’ worth the business for people when they are kind of executing this relentlessly and correctly.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:34] So, this is something I don’t have any limiting belief when it comes to our service Business RadioX, and the effect that we have on our clients, and the effect that it has on the communities that we serve. Prior to Goldfish Swim School, Andrew held a prominent role out west with a booming company that grew from $175 million in revenue to $400 million in about two years. Meanwhile, his brother and sister-in-law Chris and Jenny McCuiston had opened Goldfish Swim School Birmingham and were ready to scale.

After learning about the business and believing in its potential, Andrew up and left his steady career out west and came home, knowing there was something GOLDEN about Goldfish Swim School. Andrew’s initial role as Vice President of Franchise Development helped build the foundation of the franchise model. Nathan-Regan-Invest-AtlantaNathan Regan currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Economic Development at Invest Atlanta, where he leads the agency’s Small Business Development, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Business Retention & Expansion, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and Creative Industries activities.

Before joining Invest Atlanta, Mr. Regan worked in both private industry and the public sector. He served as a Legislative Fellow to a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, focusing on economic development, jobs, and energy and environment legislation. Mr. Regan also served as a Senior International Investment Specialist in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s SelectUSA unit, managing an international foreign direct investment team resulting in $500 million worth of investments and creating more than 1,000 jobs. In that position, Nathan served as a liaison with state and local economic development agencies around the country on FDI industry best practices and managed FDI projects coming from Europe.

Prior to his federal service, Mr. Regan worked in sales and marketing in international business development. He began his career doing program management and business development for the U.S. operations of various European automotive supply companies. He later served as a Commercial Attaché with the French Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia, responsible for attracting French foreign direct investment to the region. He was subsequently recruited to join the Danish Trade Council in Atlanta, where he served as a Senior International Trade Specialist and was responsible for trade and investment ties between Georgia and Denmark. He oversaw the Danish Business Incubator and was responsible for creating more than 30+ Atlanta-based companies and generating 200+ jobs in the Atlanta metro region. In 2012, Nathan was selected to manage the Bahrain Economic Development Board’s Washington, D.C. office, where he was worked with Fortune 500 companies on increasing trade and investment in the Middle East.

Mr. Regan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Furman University and a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He served as a Commissioner for Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Age-Friendly Business Initiative, where he worked to foster a more vibrant business community. Nathan also previously served on the Board of Directors for Atlanta-based Powerstow Americas, Inc. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council. He is originally from Greenville, South Carolina.
