The Georgia Manufacturing Alliance (GMA) was founded in 2008 by Jason Moss who envisioned a network that would support Georgia’s manufacturing community. At that time, he was a regional sales representative for a software company providing 3D CAD software for manufacturing companies. As he researched groups for the industry, he discovered that most served a very small segment of the overall manufacturing space. Mr. Moss knew strategic alliances could be made if these industry leaders could work together to support the entire manufacturing community.

Originally founded under the name Networking MFG, his organization began with a core group of 15 manufacturers and service providers that saw a need to find local resources for their industry. They wanted to buy, sell and trade locally, but did not have the platform and resources to make the connections. As the organization grew and evolved, the name was changed to the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance to better describe the mission of having Georgia’s manufacturing community working together in harmony, in one alliance.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

  • Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.
  • Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We have produced 4 editions of this print magazine. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips. Our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication, however the magazine is currently on hold as we explore graphic designers. Our latest edition can still be found on our website.
  • Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2018, our conference will be held on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Sanders Beach.
  • Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.

Lynn Goldman is a leader in creating Georgia’s public policies and laws affecting children. She joined Claiborne, Fox, and Bradley in 2014 after building a career as a child welfare lawyer and mediator for the previous 17 years. After experiencing infertility herself in 2002 she was excited to work with other families on their family building journey.

Lynn’s passion for family law began long before attending law school. Upon graduation from the University of Alabama with a degree in Social Work, Lynn worked as a child protection case manager with the Clayton County Department of Family and Children Services. As a case manager, Lynn approved the first same sex adoption in Clayton County in 1994.

Wanting to be a greater advocate for Georgia’s children, Lynn attended law school at the University of Georgia. While at UGA, she published an article on Munchausen by Proxy in the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Journal.

Upon graduation, Lynn began her legal career as an attorney with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, where she handled a variety of cases including domestic violence divorces, child welfare cases, public benefit appeals and landlord tenant issues. During her years at Legal Aid, Ms. Goldman successfully defended a dependency case before the Georgia Court of Appeals.

From 2005 until 2010 Lynn served as the Managing Attorney for the One Child, One Lawyer Program where she trained, mentored, and supervised attorneys who volunteered to serve as child advocates in dependency cases.

Seeing mediation as a useful tool in domestic and juvenile court cases, Lynn became a registered dependency, delinquency and domestic relations mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. She has been mediating for the past 11 years throughout Georgia.

As Lynn’s reputation for being an effective mediator grew, she was given a grant with the Supreme Court Committee on Justice for Children to promote the use of mediation in Georgia’s juvenile courts. Her grant has been renewed for the past five years. With this grant Lynn has drafted Georgia’s laws on juvenile mediation and developed guidelines and training requirements for juvenile mediators. She has testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, helped to develop mediation programs throughout Georgia and has trained countless judges, attorneys and mediators on the use of mediation in juvenile court.

Lynn also recently served as the Program Coordinator for the Fulton Juvenile Court Deprivation Mediation Program, where she supervised mediators who handled deprivation and guardianship termination cases.

On multiple occasions Lynn served as a legal expert and guest commentator for “In Session” television on cases involving child abuse prosecutions. Lynn enjoys spending her free time with her husband and their twins. They are active members at Temple Sinai.

Cherie Kloss is the founder and CEO of SnapNurse. Kloss is an entrepreneur at heart with a career-long dedication to bringing joy to people. Her varied experience includes providing quality patient care as a nurse and anesthetist for over 18 years and nearly a decade creating dozens of popular cable TV series as a leading TV executive producer. Her unique background and skill set enables her to have a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties that the healthcare industry and nurses face, while simultaneously leveraging her relationships in the entertainment industry to deliver impactful brand awareness. Kloss spearheads all growth, marketing and partnership initiatives for SnapNurse and works closely with her executive team to secure premier facility-partners such as Emory University and USPI, and connects them to the top pre-credentialed nurses in the area. Currently, Kloss is focused on connecting as many professionals as possible with healthcare organizations in need and hopes to help solve the critical nursing shortage worldwide by developing a global digital authorization passport and payment system for participating practitioners. She created NurseToken in 2018 to build a blockchain credentialing system that could ease the arduous process of vetting and approvals. SnapNurse will be the first system to utilize this revolutionary concept.
