As the managing partner, Thomson began his tenure when Proof was a small boutique caterer with just one exclusive contract, The Carter Presidential Center. When he sold his interest in the company in 2013 and turned over the reins to his main partner’s son, Proof had become a much more varied food service management company specializing in off premise catering; exclusive contracts in business, convention, sports, concert, and resort venues; an airport kiosk food concept; and a Gourmet to Go division that provides creative culinary products to go. During his career with GHTA, he served in various capacities with responsibilities in membership sales and services, educational programming, and operation of the Southeastern Hospitality and Food Service Show and Atlanta International Wine Festival. Thomson moved to Atlanta in 1977 as general manager for Victoria Station Restaurants, a California based specialty restaurant chain.

Thomson has served as the Chairman of the Southeastern Chapter of the National Association of Exposition Managers (NAEM), and has earned the Certified Exposition Managers’ designation. He is a member of the Advisory Board and past Chairman of the Board of The Atlanta Community Food Bank’s ‘Atlantas’ Table,’ an organization that collects prepared but not served food from restaurants and other food service operation and distributes it to the agencies that feed the homeless and hungry of Atlanta. Thomson also serves on the boards of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Georgia State University School of Hospitality.

An active Member of the Ansley Golf Club for many years, Thomson has recently completed a term of service on the Club’s Board of Directors and had a significant leadership role in a major renovation of its food and beverage facilities. He and his wife Deb, a successful retail executive, are devoted members of the Holy Family Catholic Church where they live in the East Cobb section of Marietta. They have two grown children, Will and Kate, and spend as much time as they can at their beach home at Fripp Island, South Carolina.

A couple of topics that have come up repeatedly over the course of weeks since we started the Health Connect South Radio show: Population Health and Interoperability. On this week’s show we sat down with health IT expert, Mark Janiszewski, EVP of Product Management for Greenway Health.

Mark shared how the company has recently introduced new solutions that are aimed at facilitating better population health management initiatives. Recent changes in the law are placing greater requirements for focus on preventive health and patient outcomes over the older disease-focused models that reimbursed on a fee-for-service basis.

Greenway’s platform gives providers access to data that empowers them to close gaps in care delivery and better manage a population’s high-cost problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses. Additionally, the company is providing a portal called, Greenway Exchange, that gives patients ability to see their health data, schedule appointments, and even interact with their care providers.

We talked about how the company helps their clients prepare for the coming implementation of ICD-10 coding requirements that are currently set to go into effect in October 2015. The new coding format will add a much greater degree of detail in documenting patient problems and treatments.

The goal of the ICD-10 changes is to facilitate research, improve outcomes through better case management, decrease medical errors, enhance public health, educate patients on costs/outcomes, and more.

Mark shared some of the challenges that health organizations face in meeting the expectations for the ICD-10 documentation. The company is helping to prepare their clients for the upcoming changes in coding.

He has given presentations at every major legal conference involving Georgia workers’ compensation law, including: the annual ICLE seminar in St. Simon’s Island, GTLA annual convention, State Bar of Georgia, State Board of Workers’ Compensation annual seminar, the WCCL annual educational seminar (For Your Eyes Only), Atlanta Bar Association, Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, and Travelers Employer School. In 2013, Rob spoke twice at the AAJ National Convention in San Francisco. Rob has lectured on topics such as turning around the tough case, affirmative defenses, taking depositions, civil discovery in workers’ compensation cases, common mistakes made by employers, independent medical evaluations, developing medical evidence, and case intake. In addition to lecturing, Rob has also authored journal articles for the State Bar of Georgia newsletter (workers’ compensation section) and the AAJ’s Workplace Injury Group newsletter.

Personally, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife (Vicki) and his three children (Sammy, Harrison and Max). When not practicing law, he enjoys traveling to Las Vegas and following his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Rob has also served as an assistant martial arts instructor in Choi Kwang Do, and is currently working toward a black belt in Hap Ki Do under 6th degree Master Kathy Tusa.

David Lee Windecher w/ The Windecher Firm

David Lee Windecher was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2012 and the Florida Bar in 2014. David is a member of the Georgia and Florida Court of Appeals, the Georgia and Florida Supreme Court, the Northern District of Georgia United States District Court and the American Bar Association.

Windecher, the son of Argentine immigrants, spent his formative years residing in two of the most dangerous cities in the United States – El Monte, California and Miami, Florida. Despite being born into desperate circumstances surrounded by tough gangs and limited opportunity, David relentlessly fought to change his fate.

Beating the odds, David was accepted into law school. During law school David interned with the Dekalb County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases under the Third-Year Practice Act from May 2011 thru May 2012. In addition, David was elected President of the John Marshall Law School Sports and Entertainment Law Society in 2010 and voted Peer Mentor of the year in 2011. Prior to attending law school, David was employed by the Miami Dolphins as a Public Relations Coordinator. In 2005, David graduated at the top of his class with the summa cum laude distinction from the American Intercontinental University in South Florida. David is also fluent in Spanish.

Today, Windecher practices criminal defense at his own Atlanta-based firm, The Windecher Firm and is the Founder of RED, Inc., a non-profit organization sponsoring GED programs for young juveniles facing non-violent criminal charges and capable of rehabilitation through an education.

He wrote an autobiography – The AmerIcan Dream | HisStory In The Making – to portray the difficulty of obtaining the American dream as an impoverished minority.

Windecher’s faith in God and love for his family were the catalysts for turning his life around.
