Campus-Advisers

Campus Advisers has been a leader in the field of college planning since 2001. We are proud to have helped more than 4,000 families recognize and afford the best college match, i.e. not borrowing your future!

We focus on “THE COLLEGE MONEY TALK?” because there are some conversations that are hard for families to have.

The reality is that every parent wishes they had more saved and started saving earlier. You don’t want to let your kids down. That is every parent’s worst fear. You are not alone!

Having a realistic money conversation as a family will keep hearts from being broken and ensure that your student graduates with manageable student debt, without robbing mom and dad’s retirement or delaying your student’s adult decisions such as travel, cars, houses, marriage, and family.

IT STARTS BY KNOWING YOUR SCORE!

Lisa-Hullinger-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXLisa Hullinger is a College Planning Specialist and the primary contact for Campus Advisers. She has been with Campus Advisers since 2012. As a University of Arizona alum and mother of two college-aged daughters, Lisa is a beneficiary of the Know Your Score process.

In addition to working with students and their families throughout the college journey, Lisa also assists individuals in choosing their best Medicare and Long-Term Care insurance options. She’s been a licensed agent since 2008.

In 2017, she launched Campus Realities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Campus Realities was formed out of necessity to be the source of awareness and education around the $1.5 trillion of growing student debt. Our goal is to help students and their families make better college and loan decisions before they are capsized with unforgivable debt that cannot be discharged. As President, Lisa manages the daily operations as well as any fundraising activities.

Video helps you get to know a brand, making the relationships a lot more personal and powerful. Find out what brands are killing it in Arizona and nationally. Find out how video can help brands lead in Arizona.

Pelican Media is a Tempe, Arizona-based creative media company dedicated to helping businesses tell their stories authentically and effectively so they can grow. Pelican Media has helped businesses all over the globe with video, photography, web development, and collateral design since 2011.

Samuel-Pagel-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXSam Pagel started Pelican Media back in the summer of 2011 when he decided it was time to turn his passion for creative media into a business.

After being exposed to so many bad videos on local television and the web, he vowed to help local businesses tell their stories accurately and with imagination. He wanted to show the world that great promotional material belongs to everyone, not just the highbrow conglomerates with nothing but money. pelican media

Thus, Sam created Pelican Media to level the playing field. Since the beginning, Sam strongly believed in a job well done, on time, as promised. That is why Pelican Media has never missed a project deadline … ever.

Sam has endured late nights (that sometimes turn into early mornings) and 100+ hour work weeks to deliver products his clients are proud of. Since starting Pelican Media he has been able to work with so many amazing people and businesses. He has a passion for the work he does.

ABOUT AZ BRANDCAST

Every month, Mike Jones and Chris Stadler tap into Arizona’s rich community of thought leaders and business owners to find out how the state is developing that brand. Join them as they interview business and thought leaders from in and around Arizona about higher purpose in their companies and Arizona’s development as a brand. AZ Brandcast is powered by Conscious Capitalism AZ and Resound Creative.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS

It’s Mike Jones‘ mission to see brands grow and succeed – to reach their full potential. He believes every brand, like every person, has DNA that’s remarkable, but not every brand knows how to act like it (and communicate it to the world). It’s not about what’s trendy, whatever consumers are demanding, or whatever will turn the fastest profit. It’s about the long game – building real relationships with your customers and your community.

Chris Stadler likes to see great plans executed. In a world looking for magic formulas, his stoic outlook tends to point people back to doing the basics really well. Accountability and measurement are his tools. In the past, Chris served as the staff copywriter for a large credit union, UX/human factors researcher at the University of Iowa and full-time teaching faculty, teaching design, copy and strategy at the University of Oregon.

The Pinya Project is the beginning of a revolution in the fashion industry. Shopping for a handbag is now environmentally-friendly. They have developed luxury-style handbags from a leather-alternative, Pinatex. This innovative material is made from pineapple plants!

Pineapples in the Philippines are farmed for their fruit, and the fibers from the leaves that usually get burned away or left to rot are felted into a material similar to leather. Pinatex is water-resistant, durable, and most importantly, it doesn’t harm the environment!

The Pinya Bag is the first of their designs to launch and will be available on Kickstarter this June. Follow Melior Handbags on Facebook and on Instagram to find out more about getting your very own Pinya Bag and bringing this brand to life!

DeLaney-Aarhaus-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXDeLaney Aarhaus has traveled to over 50 countries and is only 22 years old. It is because of her opportunities to see so many different places that she has fallen in love with planet, and is determined to improve its condition. She also loves fashion, and had a hard time finding an eco-friendly handbag that fit her style. She wanted a design that was sleek and professional, and when she found out other women felt the same way, she took action.

She is part of the Blacksmith Entrepreneurial Community. This has given her the opportunity to work with three different business mentors. She is learning from experienced entrepreneurs to ensure that The Pinya Project grows into the company to pioneer an Earth-friendly fashion industry.

FABRIC-Co-Founder-Sherri-Barry-on-Business-RadioXSherri Barry is a fashion design entrepreneur. She started her career at Brown Shoe Company, where she quickly moved up the ranks to become Vice President of Operations, opening over 300 retail locations across the country. Sherri left the corporate world in pursuit of becoming an entrepreneur. She then earned a Master of Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Shortly after getting her Masters Degree, Sherri started an apparel company. The struggles of manufacturing in California ignited her passion for creating a reliable local resource for emerging designers. In 2016, Sherri founded “Arizona Fashion Source,” a small-batch apparel manufacturer, and “Events at F.A.B.R.I.C,” a fashion venue hosting a wide variety of corporate and private events. UPDATE from DeLaney on May 20  2019

Hello Phoenix Business Radio X listeners!

During the show, we were all so engulfed in the topics we we’re discussing that I didn’t have time to talk about the name of the brand. I had had my heart set on the name “EcoLuxe,” but the day before this live interview, I found out that EcoLuxe handbags already existed.

I truly thought that I had done my due diligence, but I’m a newbie at business, so mistakes are bound to be made. I was devastated! I referred to the Kickstarter campaign and the brand as “The Pinya Project.”

But I have good news everyone! I have found a name that is even better… Introducing MELIOR Handbags!

Melior and variations of this word in many languages means “better.” It is a Latin word originally. And in 1868, leading author of the Victorian era, George Eliot (who was really a woman named Mary Ann Evans), coined the term “Meliorism”. It is a philosophy defined as “the belief that the world can be made better through human effort.” It perfectly describes the brand, and I couldn’t be happier with the change.

Follow Melior Handbags on Facebook and on Instagram to find out more about getting your very own Pinya Bag and bringing this brand to life!

Thank you for listening!

In this episode of Project Management Office Hours Joe Pusz, PMO Joe, talks with guests Todd Williams, President at eCameron and Dustin Thompson, PMO Manager at Keap.  The show takes a deep dive into PMOs examining steps to be successful, pitfalls to avoid and skills necessary for PMO Leaders to excel in a leadership role as well as Purpose or “The Why” is vital to start a successful PMO.

Todd shares several experiences from his time rescuing projects at organizations around the globe. He provides insights from his book, “Filling Execution Gaps” such as why PMOs often fail.   Todd and Dustin have a great discussion about the skills required from a PMO leader such as the ability to Sell.

As the PMO Manager at Keap, formerly Infusionsoft, Dustin shares first hand experiences working with his PMO team.  He walks us through several examples of PMO Leaders using an Agile mindset to experiment and fail fast, but take action.  Dustin provides practical advice for PMO leaders struggling to find success aligning with organizational strategy.

Dustin-Thompson-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXDustin Thompson is a PMO servant leader with over 15 years’ experience in project management. Dustin believes that a successful PMO leader must play for the front of the jersey(team/company name) not the back (his name). His mantra is “speed with purpose”.

He has committed his life to continuous learning and innovation. Becoming a strong business leader is just as important as project methods. He contributes his success to building skills often overlooked by project leaders, such as sales, crucial conversations, EQ, mindfulness, and how to say no. He truly believes in a culture owning performance and accountability.

He says that he does not like the word “problem” because it implies defeat or points blame, instead he sees challenges that he can stand up to, face head-on with grit and optimism. There is no point trying to change other people to make your success a reality, instead, he focuses on what he can control and influence. “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”

Dustin has a strong passion for servant leadership. He truly cares more about others’ success than his own. He believes that helping others become successful makes him successful. He shows up every day and asks who is that one person that needs my help the most today, and then what is the single most important thing I can I do today to contribute to making the company’s strategy successful.
