Theresa DiNatale-Lyon and Claudia Castaneda with Enchanted Island Amusement Park and Laura Pahules with Arizonans for Children E4

The theme of this week’s show was community partnership. Now in its 8th year of partnership, Laura Pahules from Arizonans for Children and Theresa Lyon from Enchanted Island Amusement Park shared what made for their successful partnership.

Listeners will want to tune in to hear how sometimes all it takes is simply asking a potential partner for what could benefit your organization. That’s what happened 8 years ago when Laura’s husband walked into the offices of Enchanted Island Amusement Park. Growing from that one simple ask has been years of making dreams come true for families affected by foster care.

Enchanted Island Amusement Park is an amusement park in Encanto Park with 11 rides and attractions as well as has a boat dock for Pedal Boat rentals. Enchanted Island hosts Company Picnics,Enchanted-Island-Logo-FINAL Birthday Parties, Group Outings and a day “Just for Fun”! Enchanted Island Amusement Park works to assist non- profits in the Phoenix Area. Their goal is to give back to the community that they are a part of. They work diligently with Arizonans for Children to host an annual Foster Festival at Enchanted Island where we serve over 3000 foster children and their foster families.

Enchanted Island is grateful along with Arizonans for Children for our local vendors that come along side to support such a huge undertaking. One of the many goals of the Foster Festival is to provide a day of complete fun for these foster youths as well as reach new adults that help volunteer during this event to consider being mentors to one of these children in need. For additional information please contact Arizonans for Children in Phoenix.

Theresa-DiNatale-Lyon-with-Enchanted-Island-Amusement-ParkTheresa DiNatale-Lyon has been the owner of Enchanted Island Amusement Park in Phoenix since 2005 as well as the operator of the Daisy Mountain Railroad in Anthem, AZ since 2002. Theresa is married to Kraig Lyon, the co- owner of these businesses, and the mother of 3 children, the oldest of which just graduated from Northwest Christian School and is headed to NAU for this fall. While attending college Theresa worked full time at the Target Stores and quickly was promoted to an Executive Team Member. In her early years Theresa received a Nursing Assistant Certificate.

ABOUT PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE HOURS SERIES

Project Management Office Hours is intended to provide Project Management professionals a place to drop in and discuss Success Stories, Best Practices, and Lessons Learned.  Project Management Consultant Joy Gumz has shared with us, “Operations keep the lights on, strategy provides the light at the end of the tunnel, but project management is the train engine that moves the organization forward.”

Each of us has a unique story to tell, but collectively we share a message that organizations who embrace Project Management Best Practices perform better than those which don’t.  Organizations which align Projects to Strategy perform better.  Organizations with Engage Executive Sponsors deliver better results.  Organizations which measure Project Management performance outperform those which don’t.

During our Project Management Office Hours, we hear directly from Industry leaders how to make an impact in our profession. How we, collectively, will Advance Project Management Best Practices, One Listener at a time!

Humanitarian Raveen Arora with Think Human and Co-host Jim Hall with Crexendo

In this episode of Phoenix Business Radio, Host Karen Nowicki and Special Guest Co-host Jim Hall, get you connected with community builder and philanthropist, Raveen Arora. Listen in as Raveen shares his approach (and life’s work) to advocating diversity and a constant provider of opportunities, education… and a delicious meal.

Raveen-Aurora-with-think-Human-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXSince childhood in his native India, Raveen Arora, Founder of Think Human, has lived a life of service. This includes the All India Boy Scouts Association, volunteership with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity to Tempe business owner, caring neighbor, and immigrant community mentor.

Inspired by his humble beginnings, Arora believes there is nothing more important than community involvement and social responsibility. “I am truly humbled and incredibly privileged to be selected for this honor,” he says. “This award is much bigger than me and rightfully belongs to all my neighbors on the Apache corridor who have been on this journey with me. It’s the people who matter.”

At an early age, Arora knew what it meant to be hungry after his family lost everything during war. Growing up in Kolkata (Calcutta), India he involved himself with service organizations such as the Scouts, president of the Leo/Lions Club, and other charitable works before immigrating to America.

In 2003, Arora opened The Dhaba and India Plaza, near Apache and McClintock in an area of Tempe with many challenges. Through the years, Arora has made a positive change by providingRaveen-Aurora-and-jim-Hall-on-phoenix-business-radiox3 clothing, bottled water, and daily free meals to people in need. Several local nonprofits have benefited from his financial support and leadership.

During construction of Tempe’s light rail on Apache, Arora became aware of a dangerous situation for residents crossing the street to utilize public transportation, especially for wheelchair users. He responded by donating a portion of his land for the installation of an accessible ramp and crosswalk.

Arora upholds the dignity of people from all walks of life by providing jobs, giving incentives to further their education, and encouraging the very best in each person he meets. He is known as “uncle” to many foreign students and immigrants living in the area, helping them with their studies and transitioning to a new culture.

For his life of good works, Raveen has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Mother Theresa International Service Award, Don Carlos Humanitarian of the Year, and the National Restaurant Association Humanitarian Award.

ABOUT JOURNEY RADIO

Tune into Journey Radio to learn from successful professionals who will provide you with a roadmap for your own Journey to success. Our guests are individuals who want to share stories, tips and guidelines based on their own journey. Listeners will be encouraged to stay the course after learning that a journey that ends successfully is not a straight line but is a winding road of experiences that teaches life lessons that can be built upon, providing us grit and knowledge to complete our Journey.

Journey Radio’s mission is to ensure all listeners have the opportunity to learn from guest’s experiences, failures and successes enabling Journey listeners to complete their “Path to Success” at a faster pace, with fewer failures. Every lesson learned does not need to be through experience, but can be learned by listening and learning from other’s experience.  Journey Radio connects listeners with guests who have completed the journey that the listener is on.
