Co-Chairs of TechBridge’s 2016 Digital Ball, Bryson Koehler CIO of The Weather Channel and Janet Sherlock CIO of Carter’s visit Booth 61

May 25, 2016 by Ricky

What a Special Treat for me to have two wonderful friends, technology icons and the Co-Chairs of  the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball visit Booth 61 with Ricky Steele on Saturday night, May 7th. I have known Bryson Koehler and Janet Sherlock for many years and I promise you, they don’t make folks better than these two. Bryson and Janet are both super successful and well respected as the CIO of The Weather Channel and Carter’s. Even more so, they both have huge hearts for our community. Despite working long hours leading their technology teams, they commit hundreds of additional hours each year to a diverse group of not for profits. TechBridge and our entire technology community owe them both a great debt of gratitude. Although final numbers have not officially been announced, I believe that over 1.2 MILLION DOLLARS in cash and in kind was raised on May 7th at the 2016 Digital Ball. It would not have been possible without the tireless effort of Bryson and Janet. As a result, somewhere between 7 and 10 million people will have their lives improved in 2016 through the hundreds of not for profit agencies that TechBridge serves. I hope you will listen to their interview and whether you know them well or not, send them an email or a thank you note in appreciation of their dedication for co-chairing the 2016 Digital Ball.

Lisa McVey, Patti Dismukes and Denise Adamson of BioIQ visit Booth 61 at 2016 Digital Ball

May 23, 2016 by Ricky

Lisa McVey. Patti Dismukes, Denise Adamson in Booth 61 at the 2016 Digital Ball 5 09 2016It is always a pleasure to spend time with old friends Lisa McVey and Patti Dismukes as well as meet a new friend, Denise Adamson. All three of these dynamic executives from BioIQ were gracious to stop by Booth 61 with Ricky Steele at the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball. Lisa is a past Chairwoman of the Digital Ball and has been an active Board Member of TechBridge for many years. It was great to hear their views on the importance of the Digital Ball, the lives being touched and the exciting developments at BioIQ. Although this company only began rolling out their services in Atlanta in August of 2014, they are well on the road to screening 100 million people in 2016 and beyond. Our community welcomes BioIQ and certainly appreciates their support of TechBridge and the Digital Ball.

Walt Carter, CIO of Primary Capital Mortgage visits Booth 61 at TechBridge’s 2016 Digital Ball

Walt Carter in Booth 61 at the 2016 Digital Ball 5 09 2016Perennial guest and dear friend, Walt Carter was gracious to stop by Booth 61 with Ricky Steele on May 7th at the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball. Walt has a huge heart to match his huge personality. Walt was an early employee of TechBridge, a long time Table Host and a tremendous supporter from the very beginning. I always enjoy chatting with Walt to hear his insight and wisdom about TechBridge from the beginning over 16 years ago to today. Our community owes a great deal of gratitude to my friend and technology superstar, Mr. Walt Carter.

It is always a treat when one of my favorite people visits Booth 61. Jay Ferro is an icon in the Atlanta Technology Community. Not only does Jay run a steady ship as the CIO of the American Cancer Society but no one and I mean literally no one does more community service than “Mr. Everywhere”. Jay currently chairs the Board of TechBridge and has chaired many other organizations including Georgia CIO Leadership Association and the United Way IT Initiative. In addition, Jay created Priscilla’s Promise to honor and commemorate his wife, Priscialla’s heroic battle against cancer. Jay’s passionate dedication to our community has improved millions of lives through the not for profit agencies he supports and the not for profit agencies that TechBridge serves.

Scott Schindler, Managing Director Sales at Dell Services, Visits Booth 61 at the 2016 TechBridge Digital Ball

May 18, 2016 by Ricky

Scott Schindler of Dell in Booth 61 at the 2016 Digital Ball 5 09 2016 2It was my pleasure to both meet and to have the privilege of interviewing Scott Schindler at the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball. Scott shared some of the exciting new things happening at Dell. He also shared the importance Dell as a company places on supporting the not for profit community not just in Round Rock but around the world.

Dell has been a major sponsor of the Digital Ball for many years and again hosted a wonderful “After-Party” for the CIO’s in attendance. Thank you Scott and Dell for making a huge difference in our community.

It was great having my friend, Ben Hendrick join me in Booth 61 at the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball. Ben is an icon in the Atlanta Technology Community. Ben is not only a powerful executive at IBM Security but Ben is a great giver of himself and of his companies resources to many Atlanta not for profit organizations. TechBridge and Women in Technology are two of the many organizations that have benefited from Ben’s generous contributions. I have known Ben for 8 or 9 years and I am honored to call him my friend. I know you will enjoy this interview.

Jimmy Etheredge, Senior Managing Director of Accenture, at TechBridge’s 2016 Digital Ball

May 16, 2016 by Ricky

My first guest in Booth 61 with Ricky Steele at the TechBridge 2016 Digital Ball was Jimmy Etheredge, Senior Managing Director – Products North America for Accenture. TechBridge has enjoyed a long relationship with Accenture and it continues to grow because of the leadership of Craig Ramsey, Tiffany Brott and today, Jimmy Etheredge. This interview was a great way to begin the evening by thanking our largest sponsor for their continued support.Jimmy-Etheredge-in-Booth-61-at-the-2016-Digital-Ball-5-09-2016-2-300x275

TechBridge and the 2016 Digital Ball 3 30 2016

April 2, 2016 by Ricky

Wednesday, March 30th was a very special time on Booth 61 with Ricky Steele. James Franklin, CEO of TechBridge, Bryson Koehler, EVP and CIO of The Weather Company, Jim Reese, CEO of the Atlanta Mission and Beth Smith, Director at Corus 360 LIT up the studio.

I could add 25 paragraphs of copy and not do this show justice. Highlights are that in 2016, TechBridge will improve the lives of over 50 MILLION people through the not for profit organizations TechBridge serves including the amazing work being done by Jim Reese and the Atlanta Mission. The 2016 Digital Ball will be held on May 7th at the Marriott Marquis. Every major CIO in this city will be in attendance. Very limited tables and sponsorships are still available. Visit www.techbridge.org asap if you want to experience the night of you business lifetime. Booth 61 will be Broadcasting Live from the Digital Ball.

This is the first show sponsored by my new company, Steele Technology Partners. At Steele Technology Partners we are passionate about our clients, our candidates, our community and each another just as we are on Booth 61 with Ricky Steele.

Ben Hendrick, Managing Director, Global Delivery – Enterprise Systems & Networking for the Dell Corporation

November 18, 2015 by Ricky

Ben Hendrick and Ricky Steele at the 2015 CIO of the Year Awards 11 13 2015As always it was an honor and privilege to have Ben Hendrick join me in Booth 61 at the GCLA 2015 CIO of the Year breakfast. I met Ben in 2006 or 2007 while he was earning his MBA at Kennesaw State University. Ben and I became more than friends. Many call us Brothers from different Mothers. 🙂

I am in awe of what Ben has accomplished since joining Dell in 2009. Everyone knows who Michael Dell is and the great success of his company. In 2009, I did not know anyone who worked at Dell nor did I ever see anyone from Dell at industry events. Within a year of Ben joining the company he became the Face of Dell in Atlanta. There were not 10 CIO’s in Atlanta who could have given you the name of their sales executive from Dell in 2009. Today there is not a CIO in Atlanta who does not know and respect Ben Hendrick. Ben is the Face at TAG, TechBridge, WIT and so many other organizations in our community. The Dell After-Party at the annual Techbridge Digital Ball is legendary.

If you don’t know Ben Hendrick, I hope you will listen to this short interview and then connect with Ben on LinkedIn or other social media. You will connect with one of the greats!
