BRX Pro Tip: Compounding Works on Everything
Stone Payton : Welcome back to Business RadioX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, we’ve all heard and talked about the compounding effect when it comes to investing money. But I mean, compounding, that principle holds true in a lot of arenas, doesn’t it?
Lee Kantor: Yeah. I think it’s a universal law, and it becomes obvious with money, and it takes a lot of patience to compound money. But I think compounding works on more things than just money. And I think one of the areas that we’ve really leaned into, and it is kind of a core belief of ours, is that compounding works extremely well when it comes to relationships. Every conversation and all the value that you’re delivering is going to build on top of the previous one.
Lee Kantor: The person you stayed in touch with five years ago becomes your biggest referral source because of you consistently interacting with them over time. Your skills are going to compound. Every client project is teaching you something. You’re going to get better. You’re going to make mistakes. You’re going to grow sharper. You’re going to learn more. Your reputation compounds every time you show up and deliver exceptional work. People remember that. Your reputation is going to get stronger.
Lee Kantor: At Business RadioX, we’ve compounded relationships with business leaders. We’ve compounded expertise in the content we deliver. We’ve compounded in terms of our reputation as people who care about us connect us with other people, and we connect them with other people. None of this happens overnight. This is not a quick fix. This is not a get-rich-quick strategy. This happens by relentlessly pursuing this type of thinking and doing work that matters.
Lee Kantor: So, here’s your mindset shift. Stop looking for quick wins and start investing in important work and delivering that over time. So, start thinking about what you want to compound, what it would be great to have more of, not just next year, but in five years. Is it your network? Is it your knowledge? Is it your impact?
Lee Kantor: Whatever it is important to you, just kind of lean into it and just relentlessly pursue that and just deliver on that every day. Make it your true north. Make it the priority that you’re doing every day. So, if you want more important relationships with important people, start delivering and connecting people together and build those relationships if that’s important to you.
