BRX Pro Tip: Your Feedback System is Your Growth Engine
Stone Payton : And we’re back with Business RadioX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you. Lee, let’s talk about making it not just appropriate, but easy to get genuine feedback and what kind of impact that can have on your growth.
Lee Kantor: Yeah, I think having some sort of feedback system is, or can be, a growth engine for your company. And it’s in a place where most people tend not to want to look. It’s in kind of the minds of your clients, your current clients. And you know what? There’s a rule of thumb, I guess, in business that you can’t improve what you don’t measure. So having some sort of a simple feedback system into your client engagements is important so you can start measuring this stuff and you can start kind of mining some value from it.
Lee Kantor: And it doesn’t have to be super complicated. It could be as simple as after any project, you just ask a client a couple questions. What went well? Where could we improve, and would you refer us? And if you just keep track of that, those three questions over time, you’re going to see some patterns and you’re going to see some opportunities, and you’re going to see some areas where you’re going to have to solve some problems for your system and your team and yourself.
Lee Kantor: So, this is going to kind of bubble up some things like, hey, is there a way? Are we delivering the service that we would like to be delivering? Are we as fast as we’d like to be? Are there bottlenecks in areas in our process that maybe we hadn’t noticed before but maybe is getting overcomplicated? And this information is important because it’s telling you where to invest your energy.
Lee Kantor: At Business RadioX, we try to ask for feedback a lot, whether it’s on our show, our communication, the way we structure things. That’s what helps us stay on top of our game.
Lee Kantor: So, an exercise to think about this week. Ask one client some questions. Ask them for specific feedback on the last engagement. Don’t get defensive. You don’t have to explain anything. You’re just trying to listen and see if there’s anything there that needs work. Look for patterns over time. And that’s how you’re going to get better over time. And that’s how you’re going to grow.
