Do you have a student in your life who you want great things for? Are you an employer looking for great employees? Yes? AWESOME!

Host Phil Bonelli is speaking with Shelly Logan — Workforce Strategies Group, Rhonda Samples — Executive Director of Career, Technical, and AG Education @ Hall County Schools, and Carla Swafford — Assistant Superintendent Hall County Schools, about career and student development and work-based learning, and how they benefit our students, their parents, and our amazing local businesses.

The mission of the Work-Based Learning Program is to assist in providing a highly trained, technologically sophisticated, and career-oriented young workforce. This is accomplished by developing partnerships between businesses, industry, students, parents, school systems, coordinators, and post-secondary institutions, leading the participating student into meaningful careers. There are 60 pathways for students to choose from. The WBL is currently serving 900 work-based learning students.

Here’s a short summary of the key benefits of Work-Based Learning:

Practical Skill Development: Work-based learning provides hands-on experience, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. This practical exposure enhances their skills and competencies in a specific field, preparing them for future employment.

Industry Relevance: By engaging directly with employers and professionals in the industry, work-based learners gain insight into the current trends, practices, and demands of the field. This knowledge ensures that their training remains relevant and aligns with industry standards, increasing employability prospects.

Professional Networking: Work-based learning creates opportunities for students to build valuable professional connections within their industry. Through interactions with supervisors, colleagues, and mentors, learners can establish relationships that may lead to future job opportunities, references, and collaborations.

Career Exploration: Work-based learning allows young people to explore different career paths and industries firsthand. It helps them make informed decisions about their future career choices by providing exposure to various work environments, roles, and responsibilities.

Enhanced Employability: Work-based learning equips students with job-specific skills, making them more desirable to potential employers. It demonstrates their ability to apply theoretical knowledge, adapt to workplace dynamics, and contribute effectively to the organization.

Personal and Professional Growth: Through work-based learning, individuals develop a range of transferable soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and time management. These skills contribute to personal growth, boosting confidence and self-esteem. Moreover, learners gain a deeper understanding of professional ethics, responsibility, and work culture.

Smooth(er) Transition to Employment: Work-based learning often includes internships, apprenticeships, or cooperative education programs that bridge the gap between education and employment. Such experiences expose young people to the expectations, routines, and challenges of the workplace, facilitating a smoother transition into full-time employment.

Higher Earning Potential: Work-based learning can lead to higher earning potential due to the acquisition of specialized skills and industry-specific knowledge. The practical experience gained during work-based learning can make students more competitive in the job market, potentially leading to better job offers and salary negotiations.

Lifelong Learning Mindset: Engaging in work-based learning promotes a lifelong learning mindset, encouraging individuals to continue developing their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. It instills a sense of curiosity and adaptability, enabling individuals to stay updated with evolving industry trends and advancements.

LT Ladino Bryson with vCandidates and Ben Johnson with Arizona Web Pro E9

As Jennifer Burwell and Kyle McIntosh interview member after member of the MAC6 community on these shows, wanting to support each other through these current tremulous times seems to be a common theme.

It’s no wonder we love listening to the MAC6 Community Connection Radio Show and Podcast every week. This episode featured LT Ladino Bryson with VCandidates.com and Ben Johnson with AZ Web Pro.

Both VCandidates.com and AZ Web Pro have been well-positioned to help support business owners and employees during this COVID crisis. Listen for the freebies they are both offering right now to help people! They are amazing!

One of our favorite quotes during the show was when LT said, “stop, breathe and make a list of a few next steps. Just find a baby step and move forward. Get out of your head and start moving your feet.”

vCandidates.com is changing the way career transitions happen by creating a positive connection between technology and the human touch. We are a private, exclusive and alternative career advancement platform that connects you, if you’re in a job search, with vetted recruiters and staffing agencies who will seek you out, keep you informed and will be there to support you during the entire job hiring process. vCandidates-logo

If you’re a professional recruiter or staffing agency, we provide you with a recruitment database of pre-screened candidates who are seriously interested in and well-prepared to find their new career opportunity.

If you’re an employer, you can provide employees a goodwill, employer-branding gesture in times of heightened workforce reductions by extending your employee experience through a 3-month candidate offboarding subscription to our platform.

vCandidates is a subscription-based SaaS platform, a private, confidential platform. Through our Boot Camp program and vCounselor support (former HR and recruitment professionals), which includes a personality test and culture questionnaire, candidates will have a robust profile, be well-prepared for the job search process and will know what they’re looking for and how to interview and work with recruiters and staffing agency personnel. And, our recruitment software will enable on-going digital communications between the recruiter and candidate.

How are we able to this? Because our founder was a recruiter. We understand the problems that plague recruiters and hinders job seekers from being found when searching for their next career opportunities.

LT-Ladino-Bryson-vCandidatesLT Ladino Bryson is an experienced C-Level Executive and Entrepreneur. She has been recruiting since 2012, has counseled thousands of job seekers, and has placed more than 600 candidates. As the owner of Clique Hiring Solutions, LT worked permanent, contract, and labor searches for C-Level to general labor positions for clients such as MSC Direct, Red Ventures, Tesla, Sharp Business Systems and others in the IT, healthcare, engineering, accounting, creative services, and hospitality industries.

LT is a “people person” who looks at every situation from a 360-degree viewpoint. She is also affectionately known as “The Employment Therapist™” and received this moniker based on her friendly but straightforward expert career advice. She has been published in publications and blogs, such as Family Circle, Forbes.com, Fortune.com, Maxim.com, HR Technology, US News & World Report, and Recruiter.com. And, LT continues to be recognized as a career or recruiting expert who has been seen on The Today Show and over 100+ television affiliates for networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC news stations.

Prior to recruiting, LT spent 20 years in the entertainment industry serving in marketing, promotions, and artist development roles for record companies such as Jive, Arista, Columbia, and Sony Music. She has helped with the success of artist projects such as Will Smith, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Usher, Notorious B.I.G, OutKast and Wu Tang Clan, to name a few. She now uses the development savvy she learned in the industry to assist candidates in making the best presentation of themselves.

ABOUT YOUR MAC6 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS CO-HOSTS

KyleMcIntoshWith a background in marketing, in various for profit and not for profit companies, Kyle McIntosh wondered, “How can I pair the passion and commitment to community progress of a non-profit with the sustainability and reach of a for profit company?” From this question and perspective a mission evolved to tear down the false distinction between the two sectors and to promote companies with Conscious Capitalism® business models through MAC6.

Kyle is the President and Creative Excitant of MAC6.  Day to day, his main operational role is on the “spaces” side of the business, focusing on creating thriving communities in the commercial office buildings, the co-working space, and the co-manufacturing space.  The other role that he plays is that of EOS implementer, working with clients to bring the Entrepreneurial Operating System, from the book Traction® to their businesses.  Additionally, he sits on the boards of Conscious Capitalism Arizona, telling the stories of good businesses in Arizona, and The Tempe Chamber of Commerce, sustaining Tempe’s quality of life and keeping our community and economy vibrant.

Kyle loves Arizona and wants to see us all collectively find great success based on the awesome things that are happening here every day.
