On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on cardiovascular surgeon and certified fitness trainer Dr Averel Snyder. Dr Snyder is one of the few heart surgeon’s who also is a certified fitness trainer. He coaches his patients on the health benefits of strength training and vigorous cardiovascular exercise as part of their treatment. Dr Snyder explained the health benefits of getting your heart rate elevated through interval training in order to improve aerobic capacity and weight training. He also recommended some supplements like fish oil. He also had an interesting take on hormone replacement therapy for men. Denise said that exercise is the best preventative medicine. And that you are the architect for your own body. Denise shared some great tips for Thanksgiving Day – she said to laugh a lot, cook some healthy choices and go for a family walk later in the day. She also talked about how she survived Halloween and how she sometimes embarrasses her kids by exercising during commercials while they watch TV together. Denise also talked about her love of exercise balls, dumbbells and pedometers.
