Marines are trained to improvise, adapt and overcome any obstacle in whatever situation they are needed. They have the willingness to engage and the determination to defeat the enemy until victory is seized.

The kinds of battles active-duty Marines fight range from traditional warfare to humanitarian and disaster relief missions (HADR). The fighting spirit that helps them win these battles extends beyond the scope of their military service, and many Marines continue to serve in the communities where they live.

Before the title of Marine can be earned, the decision has to be made—to commit to a calling that puts service ahead of self, purpose above pleasure, and the determination to win against all obstacles and adversaries.

Becoming a Marine affects the entire family—and often even the entire community. It’s a decision that needs to be discussed by everyone involved. Guns To Hammers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides our wounded veterans with Americans With Disabilities (ADA)-compliant remodeling and renovation services, making their homes easily accessible, helping them live independent and manageable lives.

After founding H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc., a successful remodeling company in Houston, Texas, founder, JR Smith, decided to redirect his time, money and energy toward this mission. As a former U.S. Marine, coupled with some guilt that he was able to leave the USMC unhurt and able-bodied (unlike many), JR feels he has a huge sense of responsibility to his wounded brothers and sisters who are now living at home — many of them in need of various home improvements.

Global Gun Safety Awareness is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity located in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was formed in 2017.

GGSA’s mission and message is to warn parents about the danger of a hidden gun, to create new dialog about better solutions, to change thinking about children and guns, to offer alternatives, and to generate new behavior which protects children and ensures their safety.

GGSA’s mission is supported by numerous gun safety organizations, pediatricians, as well as gun safety trainers, gun retailers, and gun professionals. This issue transcends politics — No one wants to see a child hurt or killed.

GGSA is led by Dr. Gary Witt, a retired professor of psychology and marketing. Dr. Witt holds a doctorate from the University of Texas in psychology and communication.

He has written both trade and textbooks, was a reporter and anchorman, and produced multi-award winning history series for Public Broadcasting.

Arizonans for Gun Safety (AZFGS) is a non-profit community-based organization founded in 1995 which is dedicated to reducing gun deaths and injuries with common sense, prevention-oriented solutions. In partnership with community partners representing health care, public health specialists, child advocacy groups, faith communities, law enforcement, education, parent groups and others we have developed programs to educate the public on the impact of gun violence, run public information campaigns to promote safe storage and suicide Prevention. In 2016 AZFGS established the Center for Dialogue and Policy to promote civic engagement in gun violence prevention policy. They are the fiscal agent and program partner of March for Our Lives Arizona.

Gerry Hills, Founder and Vice President of Arizonans for Gun Safety, believes now is the perfect time to talk about weapon regulations. According to Hills, the rising number of shootings in the United States needs to be addressed, and the best way to do that is to revisit regulations regarding gun control. Thoughts and prayers are good, said Hills, but action needs to be taken to prevent future tragedies.
