100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun is an Arizona giving circle of women who love to GIVE. The Valley of the Sun chapter and its giving circles are run by an Executive Committee of big-hearted volunteers along with the assistance of some very generous sponsors. 100% of their members’ donations go directly to the local charities selected at their quarterly giving circles. The goal of the group is to support the wonderful work that their local charities do in funds, exposure and awareness in a minimal amount of time.Kim Tarnopolski with 100+ Women Who Care and Paula Boca-Bommarito with CopperPoint E27

A Big Impact

100+ women x $100 = $10,000+ for a local charity in 1 hour – 4 times per year (quarterly). They currently have three (3) groups meeting throughout the Phoenix metro area – Ahwatukee, Scottsdale and East Valley. Their members come from all over the Phoenix metro area to participate. Their goal as a chapter is to donate $500,000 in five (5) years to local nonprofit organizations. To date, they have donated over $440,000.

Kim-Tarnopolski-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXKim Tarnopolski is the Chief Community Builder and driving force behind 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun. Kim is a community steward who has made a Valleywide impact to better the lives and opportunities for others. She is selfless in giving to the causes she believes in and she’ll take a stand for those who cannot. She donates with her energy, her talent, her dollars and her time.

Kim started her career in corporate America before moving into entrepreneurship to run her own business – a human resources consulting firm. The two decades of business experience gave her the opportunity to hone her skills in communication, performance and business management, facilitation, coaching, conflict management and event planning.

100 Women Who Care Valley of the Sun and Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges E7

100 Women Who Care Valley of the Sun and Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges E7

With more than 24,000 nonprofits registered in the State of Arizona, it can be difficult for nonprofit founders to rely on passion alone to have their mission attract the attention of donors and volunteers. Luckily the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy has expanded to Arizona bringing with it their mission to increase the fundraising capabilities and impact nonprofits have in their communities. Not only did we learn more about the curriculum provided by SIP to move these nonprofits forward but also the trend of giving circles, like 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun.

Listen in as guests Kim Tarnopolski, co-founder of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun and Brent Boardman, Philanthropy Education Project Manager for Sanford Institute of Philanthropy discuss how their organizations are making philanthropy happen in Arizona and how you can get involved, too!

100women_gray revised

100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun is a local philanthropic group of women who meet quarterly, contribute locally and connect personally to benefit well deserving charities. Their members are like-minded, passionate women who nominate local nonprofits in an effort to bring awareness, education and funding to those causes. Ultimately, one charity is selected each quarter to support monetarily. The ladies are leveraging their resources so their small gifts ($100 per quarter) add up to a significant donation to a local charity ($10,000 per quarter).

The chapter has four sister groups that meet around the Valley of the Sun on a quarterly basis – Ahwatukee, Scottsdale, East Valley and West Valley. Their goal is to donate $100,000 annually to local charities in the Phoenix metro area. To them, it is not about just signing a check; it is about caring.

Megan Bowman/Angels Among Us Pet Rescue

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity dedicated to saving dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in north Georgia. They operate through a network of volunteers and foster homes in the metro Atlanta area. Their efforts are funded by tax-deductible contributions from compassionate people and organizations who care and want to help make a difference, one pet at a time.

Their mission is two-fold. First, to educate the public on the plight of animals that have found themselves in high kill shelters throughout Georgia and on the responsibilities involved with pet ownership, such as spay/neuter and heart-worm prevention. Second, to save as many animals as they can from high-kill shelters and to see each animal through from the actual rescue to the loving foster home and ultimately to the “forever” home they were meant to have.

Randy Redner/Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia

Randy Redner, Community Foundation of NE GAFor more than three decades, the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia has worked in partnership with donors to donate close to $60 million to the charitable causes that matter most to the community.

Rather than giving haphazardly to every donation request, they help people learn where the real needs are and which non-profits are directly addressing those needs. Instead of giving in a rush at year-end for tax purposes, they offer tools that allow you to invest your resources now and give more purposefully when you’re ready. And if you want to leave a legacy that reaches far beyond your lifetime, they can help with that, too.

They make giving easy, with a powerful return on investment for the community. In short, they connect people who care with causes that matter.
