From a Chance Encounter in a Convertible to VP of Real Estate Development with Josh Tracy E13

Josh Tracy – VP of Real Estate Development at Ryan Companies US, Inc. shared an insightful perspective of what it’s like to be a national general contractor/developer. Josh attended ASU and was Ryan Companies’ first direct hire out of an undergrad program to be on their development team.

At Ryan Companies, we believe the value of the buildings we design, develop, finance, manage and construct is about more than dollars and cents – it’s also about the value they bring to the people who use them and the communities that surround them. That’s why we focus first on the “why” so we can give life to your vision and achieve the best possible outcome.

As a national leader in commercial real estate services, we know that our customers are as unique as their projects. That’s why, day after day, we’re driven to uncover their stories. To be inspired by what inspires them. To bring the right people to the table so we can collaborate on a deeper, more engaging level.

Together, we build something far more profound than the physical presence of a building. We build the backdrops to life’s stories.

At Ryan, our values – Safety, Integrity, Respect, Stewardship, Family, Excellence and Fun – define our culture and they shape and ignite the people who join our team. They are more than words in a mission statement, they are the inspiration that guides our decisions and shapes our belief that we offer something no one else can.

In the end, your building is better, your experience working with us more enjoyable, your community more vibrant and your project site safer – all because we embrace our values each day.

Josh-Tracy-MAC-and-BleuJosh Tracy provides valuable, highly strategic leadership as Vice President of Real Estate Development at Ryan Companies US, Inc. As a Phoenix native, Josh strives to make a difference in our community through his professional and personal efforts.

A highly motivated person, Josh started his first business at age 16, providing him with a source of income through high school and college.

After completing his Business Management and Real Estate studies at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, Josh secured a job at Ryan Companies, becoming the first person to be hired onto the Ryan development team straight out of undergrad studies. At Ryan, he has participated in developing over two million square feet of commercial space, creating employment centers for over 10,000 jobs.

Josh has understood the importance of giving back to his community from a young age. In addition to starting his own business, he utilized his love of baseball to help establish an organization to provide afterschool actives called Opportunity Through Baseball with his long-time Coach, Coach Payton.

The program’s goal was not only to provide underprivileged children with a healthy distraction after school but to help the children grow as people and become a “Major League Person.”

In his free time, Josh enjoys hiking and traveling with his wife, Angela. Together they enjoy exploring the world experiencing new cultures, and enjoying the tranquility found in some of the world’s most beautiful outdoor places.

Changing the Family Tree E66

The Tycoons welcomed Kay Bodude and Myrrie Hayes to the show to discuss a topic that should be talked about more, especially considering current events and the mental strain our society has been under this last year – mental and behavioral health. These ladies have an inspiring story to tell and it all started from a very personal experience that moved them to dedicate their lives to helping others.

Best Care truly provides the best care because the business was built on the foundation of helping people the way they would help their own family. They nurture the business by building reciprocal relationships and incorporating all aspects in-house that are needed to make the business successful.

Kay and Myrrie talk about how they are inspired to “change their family tree” to give their children choices and freedom. They followed their heart and spirit to fulfill a calling and it took hard work and dedication to make it happen, but they never gave up. They are passing on these lessons to future generations. Tune in to hear the full story and be inspired by the change Best Care is making in the community.

Best Care Behavioral Homes provides residential housing for clients that have been certified by the state of Arizona as Severally Mentally Ill (SMI). BC-New-logo

Best Care provides a stable home setting to assist clients with community skills, medication management, counseling, activities of daily living and/or other life skills deemed necessary by their interdisciplinary team.

Residents average stay is approximately 6 months.

Kay-Bodude-Tycoons-of-Small-BizAs numbers 13 and 14 of 14 siblings and the mothers of seven children and six children, Kay Bodude and Myrrie Hayes never imagined one day they would own and operate a multimillion-dollar company.

As early as eight, Kay can remember falling in love with the white uniforms nurses were required to wear.

When she was 22 years old, Kay became a nurse. Myrrie Hayes, on the other hand, has always been a true salesperson, from starting her own candy store delivery in elementary school to selling message-grams in Junior high.

Both of them seemed to flourish with planning, selling, and being social butterflies. Somewhere along the way they realized they had the skills. Event planning, sales, marketing, and networking were some passions and the perfect ingredients to become entrepreneurs.

Myrrie-Hayes-Tycoons-of-Small-BizTheir first “legitimate” business was a uniform store. They sold medical uniforms, medical equipment, and school uniforms.

Business expanded to three locations before selling it in 2012 and moving to Arizona. In Arizona, they established themselves a new “home base.

In 2016, Kay and her husband started their own skilled home health company. Three years later they sold it for a nice profit.

During her time with her home health company, Kay noticed a need in the mental health industry and in 2017, Kay and Myrrie, along with 2 partners, filled that need by starting Best Care Behavioral Homes. Best Care Behavioral Homes, LLC, known as BCBH, has grown to be a million-dollar company in under 3 years.

A good entrepreneur has seven streams of income. Along with BCBH, Kay and Myrrie also own Best Care Staffing, Best Care Consulting, Best Care Academy, 321 Event Space Rental, MC Beauty Supply, and KM Management, their joint non-profit endeavor.

Kay and Myrrie are always looking for their next successful venture as they build a lasting legacy for their families.

Campus-Advisers

Campus Advisers has been a leader in the field of college planning since 2001. We are proud to have helped more than 4,000 families recognize and afford the best college match, i.e. not borrowing your future!

We focus on “THE COLLEGE MONEY TALK?” because there are some conversations that are hard for families to have.

The reality is that every parent wishes they had more saved and started saving earlier. You don’t want to let your kids down. That is every parent’s worst fear. You are not alone!

Having a realistic money conversation as a family will keep hearts from being broken and ensure that your student graduates with manageable student debt, without robbing mom and dad’s retirement or delaying your student’s adult decisions such as travel, cars, houses, marriage, and family.

IT STARTS BY KNOWING YOUR SCORE!

Lisa-Hullinger-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXLisa Hullinger is a College Planning Specialist and the primary contact for Campus Advisers. She has been with Campus Advisers since 2012. As a University of Arizona alum and mother of two college-aged daughters, Lisa is a beneficiary of the Know Your Score process.

In addition to working with students and their families throughout the college journey, Lisa also assists individuals in choosing their best Medicare and Long-Term Care insurance options. She’s been a licensed agent since 2008.

In 2017, she launched Campus Realities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Campus Realities was formed out of necessity to be the source of awareness and education around the $1.5 trillion of growing student debt. Our goal is to help students and their families make better college and loan decisions before they are capsized with unforgivable debt that cannot be discharged. As President, Lisa manages the daily operations as well as any fundraising activities.

CULTURE CRUSH RX Andy Maurer with The Phoenix Counseling Collective and Heidi Jannenga with WebPT

In this episode of Culture Crush Rx,  Deb is joined by Heidi Jannenga, co-founder and president of WebPT, and Andy Maurer, a licensed therapist with the Phoenix Counseling Collective. Andy introduces the concept of trauma-informed leadership and how our past experiences can influence how we work, while Heidi shares valuable insights about cultivating a culture where employees feel valued, nurtured and safe to be who they are. It’s a conversation every leader who wants to show up with more positive impact will definitely want to hear.

Andy-Maurer-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXAndy Maurer is an associate level licensed therapist at The Phoenix Counseling Collective, which is a group of counselors and consultants who are rooted in the city of Phoenix and committed to walking alongside others to know their story, come face to face with their humanity, and grow as persons. Their hope is that as therapists and individuals work together that individuals will live life more deeply, experience greater freedom, and make choices that authentically connect with how they were made. To do this, this practice helps individuals uncover the connections between where they have been and today’s struggles, unpack the impact of the past and current relationships, and explore your engagement with the divine.

Andy speaks to and trains founders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, equipping and educating them on the issue of trauma and its impact on their work and relationships.

Deeply integrated into the startup and entrepreneur community, Andy is seeking to create a movement where mental health issues, and especially trauma, is talked about and addressed so that founders and CEOs, as well as the individuals they lead, can receive the resources and support they need, in order to heal and transform their stories, relationships, and companies.

As a licensed trauma therapist Andy works primarily with founders, CEO’s, business leaders, adults, and couples who have experienced trauma or abuse. Having previously been a college professor, he taught courses on marriage, family, and sport psychology. He earned both a Master of Divinity in Professional Counseling from Phoenix Seminary and a Masters in Marital Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary.

E18 Eric Wright CEO of Vets2PM Trevor Stasik and Paul Martin from PMI Phoenix

In this episode of Project Management Office Hours, Joe Pusz, PMO Joe has a great discussion with special guests Eric Wright, CEO of Vets2PM and Trevor Stasik VP External Relations and Paul Martin, AVP Military Relations from PMI Phoenix.

As we honor our Veterans this month, we dedicated this episode to Project Management topics for our Veterans. We discussed the Veterans Project Management Mentoring Program offered by THE PMO SQUAD and Vets2PM. In less than a year this Program has over 100 participants across 30 states and continues to grow. To learn more about the Program visit: https://www.thepmosquad.com/veterans- mentoring.html

Eric shared his story which lead to founding Vets2PM and eventually on to building VetStone. Both of these organizations serve our Veterans in the Project Management space offering training, career services, and prep for certifcation. Thank you to Eric for his multiple tours of duty and now for providing tools and services to assist Veterans transitioning into civilian PM careers!

Trevor and Paul are both Veterans as well. Now with their roles within the PMI Phoenix chapter they are leading efforts to give back to our Veterans. Listen to hear Paul discuss the Project Language Learner initiative and plans to launch a Veterans Mentoring Program from the PMI Phoenix Chapter. Trevor shares his experiences in the military and how those activities and skills translate to his role as a BA and PM leading projects for the Make A Wish Foundation.

We honor our Veterans for the service they provided to our country. We get to honor a second time on this show for their service post military career. Eric, Trevor, and Paul are all Veterans who continue to serve, as Project Management Leaders working to assist our Veterans!

Tune in for upcoming shows with Project Management leaders discussing a wide range of current topics and events! Our next show will be November 15th with Dr Harold Kerzner and Belinda Goodrich.

The Military Outreach team at the Phoenix PMI Chapter does an amazing job of connecting with local veterans. For them, it’s not just about helping our military find jobs, it’s about building lives and guiding careers. Most recently they held Project Language Learner workshops for transitioning military at the Luke Air Force Base, guiding them in the art of writing resumes and engaging in PMIPhoenixLogojob interviews. You may also see them participating in other events ranging from job fairs to golf fundraisers.

This is the 40th anniversary for the Phoenix PMI Chapter and the year has been highlighted by a great series of speakers and educational opportunities including James Snyder, Harold Kerzner, Dr James Brown, and Steven Fullmer. The Chapter conducts dinner meetings every other month and has numerous breakfast meetings and social events.
