About The Price and Value Journey

The title of this show describes the journey all professional service providers are on:  building a services practice by seeking to convince the world of the value we offer, helping clients achieve the outcomes they desire, and trying to do all that at pricing that reflects the value we deliver.

If you feel like you’re working too hard for too little money in your solo or small firm practice, this show is for you. Even if you’re reasonably happy with your practice, you’ll hear ways to improve both your bottom line and the mindset you bring to your business.

The show is hosted and produced by John Ray and the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX®. The show can also be found on all the major podcast apps. The complete show archive is here.

John is passionate about the power of pricing for business owners, as changing pricing is the fastest way to change the profitability of a business. His clients are professionals who are selling their expertise, such as attorneys, CPAs, accountants and bookkeepers, consultants, coaches, marketing professionals, and other professional services practitioners.

In his other business, John is a Show Host and Producer and owns the North Fulton (Georgia) studio of Business RadioX®. John’s book, The Generosity Mindset: A Journey to Business Success by Raising Your Confidence, Value, and Prices

The Generosity Mindset, by John RayJohn is the #1 national best-selling author of The Generosity Mindset: A Journey to Business Success by Raising Your Confidence, Value, and Prices.

If you are a professional services provider, your goal is to do transformative work for clients you love working with and get paid commensurate with the value you deliver to those clients. While negative mindsets can inhibit your growth, adopting a different mindset, The Generosity Mindset™, can replace those self-limiting beliefs. The Generosity Mindset enables you to diagnose and communicate the value you deliver to clients and, in turn, more effectively price to receive a portion of that value.

Whether you’re a consultant, coach, marketing or branding professional, business advisor, attorney, CPA, or work in virtually any other professional services discipline, your content and technical expertise are not proprietary. What’s unique, though, is your experience and how you synthesize and deliver your knowledge. What’s special is your demeanor or the way you deal with your best-fit clients. What’s invaluable is how you deliver great value by guiding people through massive changes in their personal lives and in their businesses that bring them to a place they never thought possible.

The combination of all these elements is quite different for you compared to any other service provider in your industry. Therein lies your value, but it’s not the value you see. It’s the value your best-fit customers see in you.

If pricing your value feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar to you, this book will teach you why putting a price on the value your clients perceive and identify serves both them and you, and you’ll learn the factors involved in getting your price right.

The book is available at all major physical and online book retailers worldwide. Follow this link for further details.

indipop curates health plans for the Independent Population, the freelancers, solopreneurs and self employed professionals who make up 40% of the workforce.

Melissa-Blatt-indipopAfter graduating from NYU, Tisch School, determined to be the next Speilberg, Melissa Blatt made her way to Los Angeles. Over the next few years she worked on several TV shows and Films before moving her way into business development and marketing. Over the past 20+ years she has lived and worked in New York, LA, Minneapolis, and Phoenix where she has found success in executing innovative campaigns strengthening the customer base and expanding market reach.

She was a founding partner for a sign company, freezing her way through a Minnesota winter. Going from extreme cold to extreme heat she relocated to Arizona and opened a development office for a Phoenix nonprofit, overseeing the successful marketing campaign for Arizona Gives Day, placing in top 5 non-profits.

Changing gears she wanted to dive into digital marketing and understand the customer journey, she held multiple positions while there, the last role overseeing the user group community where she rebranded and opened it up to non Infusionsoft customers, expanding into 11 countries and increasing attendance by 63%. Fascinated by languages and doing business globally she moved on to explore the world of localization. Within months created a new distribution channel by partnering with AWS and generating 1000’s of new relationships.

In 2019 she took her biggest leap and created indipop, a healthcare marketplace for the Independent Population. It is a platform designed to serve freelancers, contract workers and solopreneurs with the benefits, services and support they need to thrive in the gig economy without being an employee and all in one place.

PHILANDRY (pronounced fi-luhn-dree) is a natural men’s fragrance, grooming and skin care company based in Tucson, Arizona.

The products are made in America. They are natural, cruelty-free, and contain mostly organic ingredients (between 83-94%) and are either hand-crafted or made in FDA approved manufacturing facilities that specialize in the highest quality natural products available for skin, hair, and body. Environmentally conscious and sensitive, for every product sold at PHILANDRY’s online store, one tree is planted by the nonprofit organization One Tree Planted.

PHILANDRY works with local talent as much as possible—from the labeling of their bottles to collaborating with award-winning perfumer, Lesli Wood, of La Curie on fragrances. All of the photography and video work they do together in house, collaborating predominantly with photographer Lance Thorn.

Alec-Laughlin-PhilandryAlec Laughlin remains somewhat reclusive, spending more time immersed in work than in gregarious activities. His professional experience is greatly varied (from clinical herbalist to photographer; visual designer to technical project manager).

It makes for a helter-skelter resumé, but now at 49 years of age, he is able to channel all of that into PHILANDRY, men’s natural fragrance, grooming and skin care, which launched on the vernal equinox of 2018 with the introduction of the cologne Wolfsbane, his hero product.

PHILANDRY affords Alec the opportunity to focus his skills and experience into a singular entity, rather than being scattered in quite so many different directions. It’s a bit of a one-man show in a lot of ways presently. But PHILANDRY is all about creative collaboration, knowing that to succeed in our most precious endeavors we can not do it alone. Camaraderie, friendship, partnerships, and loyalty, they wholly embrace.
