Helping parents or grandparents with senior transitions can be extremely confusing and challenging.

As one woman April worked with said…

“Gettin’ old ain’t for sissies!”

Before returning to work in the Real Estate industry, April worked in the Senior Care field for seven years.

She helped seniors and their families with all of their care needs during a very, very challenging time of life for everyone.

One thing she realized after helping with her grandmother’s transition and then helping many other families navigate through those transitions, having a solid care plan created in conjunction with someone’s other health care providers, is absolutely essential.

Also, knowing where to find trustworthy information and help is critical.

There are a lot of resources out there — the big problem is most people don’t know they even exist.

For example, many Gainesville residents don’t know there is an adult daycare center located within the community that can help working families care for their elderly loved ones.

There are also programs available to Veterans that can help, too.

She is happy to help answer any questions about them so that senior couples and their children can decide if a reverse mortgage is right for their individual situation.

“Show Me”! Amy Hentschel is a Show Me Girl! Born and raised in Missouri, Amy believes that actions speak louder than words. Drawn to serving seniors at an early age, Amy spent many hours during her high school years volunteering in hospitals and with hospice. After earning a degree in Communications and Mass Media from the University of Missouri, she took a job with Medicare provider and equipment distributor in Illinois.

After moving to Atlanta and working for a number of years with an assisted living community, Amy began planning a new business that would provide support, advice and resource to the seniors she’d become so attached to. Senior Provisions is an organization dedicated to assisting seniors and their families in evaluating their needs, and finding solutions to meet those needs, whether in their current home, or in a new environment. Her services are free to her clients. She provides expert guidance in the areas of senior living options, adult day programs, skilled nursing options, Alzheimer’s care, non-medical home care, support groups and financial/legal services.

Amy tells us that her business is also her mission. While she provides high quality professional services, she is also their to minister to the emotional and spiritual needs of her clients. To that end, she hosts a monthly Caregiver group focused on providing this kind of support and assistance to family caregivers – whether they are hands on with a family member, or supporting from a distance. Roger Kurth is not only an Atlanta native, but a rare Atlantan who never left! After graduating from Georgia State University, earning a degree in Personnel Management, Roger embarked on a career in sales. Holding a number of varied positions, Roger has sold everything from nails to luggage to machinery. As the economy turned, Roger decided to take matters into his own hands, starting a business that allowed him to take his part time passion for helping people, and making it his vocation.

As Roger researched the market, he noticed there was a particular area in the senior services industry that was under-served: He discovered a lot of anxiety and trepidation around the transition from a long-established home environment to a more suitable environment for an individual that may no longer be safe staying at home, nor able to maintain their own home. Furthermore, he realized that most families had no idea how to go about preparing for a move like this – from the physical details like packing and moving, to the emotional details of parting with possessions.

In 2009, Roger founded Senior Transition Services.
