Founder and CEO, Bryon McLendon, turned down a lucrative career opportunity to pursue his passion of helping others live a fit, happy and healthy lifestyle. Unemployed yet determined, he drained his bank account and opened his first retail nutrition store in 1997. With laser-sharp focus, he went to work every single day, morning to night. His wife, Tania, a personal trainer and former college track athlete, was his rock, encouraging him along the way. Within two years, Bryon had opened five locations.
After gaining several years of knowledge and expertise in the industry, Bryon decided to start his very own company, thus NUTRISHOP®, Inc. was born with the first store opening in Norco, California in 2003. Bryon extended the opportunity to other like-minded, hard-working entrepreneurs who were passionate about helping others. Founded on the pillars of honesty, integrity, trust, opportunity and good ol’ fashioned hard work, our NUTRISHOP® family grew.
“We have store owners who hated their jobs and now they’re able to do something they love while changing lives for the better and providing for their families,” says Bryon. “That gets me excited!”

Recreation and Fitness at Princeton University. Matt explained the dangers of weight lifting on swiss exercise balls, how to read supplement labels and the benefits of drinking chocolate milk after you work out. We have talked about the dangers of working out with weights while laying on a swiss exercise ball but the message is not getting through – an NBA player hurt himself when the ball burst as he was pressing weights while on the ball. The balls may say they can’t burst but if you put enough weight on them they can. Using supplements when you are a college or pro athlete can be dicey – the labels may not include any ingredients that are banned but during the manufacturing process banned substances can make their way in. A study Matt mentioned said that up to 15% of supplements had some form of steroids in them. And lastly we talked about the protein power in chocolate milk that is not in other sports recovery drinks. Matt’s new book on Youth Fitness can be found on Amazon.
Nordic Naturals. Stuart says that if your child is having trouble concentrating in school then it might be worth a try to start supplementing his/her diet with smart fats like omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3s have been found to increase attention span and improve brain function in kids. Dr Fitness found Nordic Naturals when he was searching for a great tasting pharmaceutical grade omega 3 supplement for his kids. Most of these fish oil supplements taste so nasty no kid would come near them. But Nordic Naturals has some that meet Dr Fitness’ standards and actually taste good. Stuart explained that kids need a minimum of 500 mg of essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA combined) and adults need between 2000-4000 mgs. To get a free sample call them at 800-787-7208.
