About Nonprofit Academy

The Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia (CFNEG) hosted its first Nonprofit Academy on January 30, 2020 at the Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta Hotel in Duluth, GA. This was part of the re-branding of the organization’s annual educational events. The event included a full day of learning and networking for nonprofits with classroom discussions and distinguished speakers.

Immediately following the day’s activities, Heather Loveridge, chief storyteller for the Community Foundation and founder of Magnolia Media Group, hosted a panel discussion with:

  • Randy Redner, President and CEO, Community Foundation
  • Kim Holland, Director of Early Learning and School Readiness, Gwinnett County Public Schools
  • Dr. Audrey Arona, Medical Director, Gwinnett Newton Rockdale Public Health Departments
  • Bill McCargo, Board Member, Community Foundation
  • Matt Elder, Director, United Way of Greater Atlanta

About CFNEG

Everything they do at the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia centers around one purpose – improving the world through the power of philanthropy.

On a fundamental level, they do that through managing funds held in trust, donated by individuals, organizations and businesses. Most funds are donor-advised funds, similar to savings accounts. These funds are pooled for investment purposes and their income is used to make grants for a wide variety of charitable purposes.

But their goals expand far beyond managing funds. They desire to strengthen the communities they serve in Gwinnett, Northeast Georgia and beyond by providing leadership, addressing community needs and assisting individuals and organizations with their charitable giving.

KevinGreiner

Kevin Greiner, President and CEO of Gas South, is all about discovering what’s important to people – starting with never forgetting your name, whether you’ve been an employee since the beginning, or only worked there for a month,  We’re not sure how he does it, but we’re glad he does. At the office Kevin won’t hesitate to chat with you about what you’re up to or the latest tennis highlights – he genuinely cares about every employee.

He’s also passionate about strengthening our community. Under Kevin’s leadership, Gas South has committed to giving back 5% of profits to help children in need. He has built a culture of service while also creating exceptional career paths for employees. He wants to make sure Gas South is a place where people want to be, not a place you feel like you have to be.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the energy sector, Kevin gained expertise in management roles with Southern Company. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s of science in natural resource policy, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University.

Board work: United Way of Greater Atlanta (chaired the 2012-13 Workplace Campaign), Georgia Chamber, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta (Executive Committee), Atlanta Opera

Interesting fact: Kevin speaks German and is fluent in Dekatherms (Gas South’s band where he plays the piano). Connect with Kevin on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, and follow Gas South on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

Milton J. Little, Jr.  was appointed as President of the United Way of Greater Atlanta after serving as President and CEO of United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.  He has devoted many of his 20 years in the public and private sectors to creating workforce and educational programs, building national partnerships to fund housing, and developing corporate philanthropy and community involvement strategies.

Prior to joining the United Way system, Little served as interim President and CEO of the National Urban League in New York where he launched innovative partnerships with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Labor and Commerce Departments, as well as with corporations.  Little came to the League from Lucent Technologies, which he joined while it was still part of AT&T.  The philanthropic strategies he developed at Lucent and AT&T became the forerunners of many programs that today are reducing disparities in education, employment, income and health in communities nationwide.

Little graduated magna cum laude from Morehouse College with a B.A. in sociology.  He earned an M.A. in urban sociology and social policy from Columbia University, and pursued additional post-graduate studies in public administration at New York University.  Follow United Way of Greater Atlanta on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
