Mr. Appliance and Veteran Entrepreneurs are a great match.

Mr. Appliance is a full service appliance repair company dealing in both residential and commercial applications.  We also do all levels of maintenance and installation for commercial refrigeration.

The appliance repair industry is by far the most fragmented in the service industry.  The need for the services is very high with extensive repeat clientele.  There will always be a need for appliance repair and the competition is primarily Mom & Pop type operations.  Growth in this industry as a result of the low competition levels is very high.

Mr. Appliance is highly respected by appliance manufacturers, we are the only franchise company currently in this industry and we are considered to be the leader in the field.

Mr. Appliance places so much value on veteran owners they offer a 25% discount off the franchise fee and for qualified candidates will finance up to 70% of the balance of the franchise fee, freeing up capital assets for new owners to spend on marketing and business development.

Mr. Appliance is part of the Dwyer Group, based in Waco, Texas.  Today, the Dwyer Group includes seven service-based franchise organizations:  Aire Serve, Glass Doctor, Mr. Appliance, Mr. Electric, Mr. Rooter, Rainbow International and Grounds Guys.

The Dwyer Group believes military veterans and military spouses are attracted to the company’s franchise opportunities because of the support services, the commitment to the company’s mission, vision and Code of Values as well as the established reputation of the management team and the success of the franchise systems.  Be sure to watch the Under Cover Boss video featuring Dina Dwyer Owens, CEO and Chairwoman of The Dwyer Group and gain an understanding of the company culture.

Summer time is “prime time” for skin care, for seeing and being seen!  We closely identify who we are with our faces. Taking care of our face and how we present ourselves in the world through our face is the topic of many discussions and actions.  From skin care at any age that can improve our appearance to facelifts that appear to  “peel” back the clock, this radio segment will focus on the skin care and appearance improvements that are possible for the face.

Licensed aesthetician Kim Bogash provides tips for a health glow, summer skin care and some noninvasive techniques to freshen the face. Nationally recognized Plastic Surgeon John Connors walks listeners through traditional and new techniques to improve facial appearance – from fillers to facelifts.  The first facelift was performed in 1901 in Europe and the procedure shows no sign of slowing down.

Facelifts remain one of the top 5 cosmetic surgical procedures in the US, growing over 5% per year. Half of the recipients are in the 40-55 yr age group and almost 90% are female, although the number of men pursuing this procedure is growing as well.  Topics covered in this segment  will include skin care, minimally invasive improvements available, facelift myths, new procedures and techniques, and recovery post procedure.

For more information on this topic, listeners are encouraged to visit: www.plasticsurgery.org or www.johnconnorsmd.com.

John P. Connors III,  M.D.

Being double board certified in Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Connors obtained his MD from Georgetown Medical School, conducted his Residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth and received a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Harvard Medical School.  He is the only surgeon in Georgia to offer Precision Vision 4D Patient Imaging, thereby revolutionizing consultations.  Having been featured on CBS, 11 Alive, and Fox News, Dr. Connors is a regular lecturer at surgical society meetings across the US. He is Founder of Emergence Surgical Gifts, Inc, a non-profit offering free reconstructive surgery to children.

Susan Gaunt knew from an early age that she wanted to be a nurse.  She went to work with her mother on day, and from that first visit, her future career was sealed!  After graduating from Georgia Baptist as a registered nurse, she took a job with Gwinnett Medical Center, where she’s been working for the last 29 years.  Today Susan is a Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist for both the Lawrenceville and Duluth hospitals.

Joining Susan in the studio today is repeat guest Kelly Dunham.  Kelly is both a Community Relations Coordinator and a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.  She developed a passion for helping others through volunteer work in a nursing home as a youth.  Always energetic and athletic, Kelly has a dream job – she get’s paid to play with her patients.

Since May is Stroke Awareness Month, Eugeria! Radio is highlighting leaders in our community that treat and support stroke patients and their families.  Gwinnett Medical Center provides a full continuum of stroke care that is nationally accredited.  Their hospitals in Lawrenceville and Duluth feature dedicated acute care stroke units as well as stroke rehabilitation programs and services.  Additionally, their extensive rehabilitation services begin with physical therapy and occupational therapy, as well as speech pathology services, as soon as the patient is stabilized. Patients needing continued inpatient care may be referred for inpatient rehabilitation at Glancy Rehabilitation Center or to Gwinnett Extended Care Center.

Carrie Bates Hastings, TechBridge Director of Development

Very special Booth 61 on 5/22/2013:

Carrie Bates Hastings visited to discuss the 2013 Digital Ball. Carrie shared impressive statistics including over 1.2 Million dollars raised on May 11th, 2013. 840+ technologists and over 50 volunteers joined the TechBridge staff to make this tremendous event a great success and the results are nothing short of fantastic. In addition we learned that last year TechBridge donated to organizations that impacted over FIVE Million people. That is mighty high cotton where I come from for sure. Carrie also broke the news that Mr. Jay Ferro, CIO of the American Cancer Society will become the TechBridge Chairman in July of 2013. Jay is an institution in our community and this is great news for TechBridge and our industry.

We also played 8 interviews that were recorded during the opening reception of the 2013 Digital Ball at the Marriott Marquis. Interviews shared during our time together today included Charles Brain Quinn, CEO of Big Nerd Ranch///Walt Carter, CIO of Generation Mortgage///Scott Hall, CEO of HUNTER Technical Resources///Jay Ferro, CIO of the American Cancer Society///Jean Holley, CIO of Brambles///Mike Neumeier, Principle and Co-Founder of Arketi///Carrie Wheeler, CIO of Cbeyond///Becky Blalock, Author and former Global CIO of the Southern Company///and Sandy Hofmann, Gadfly and Community Cheerleader. These interviews are a powerful testimony of the Atlanta technology communities commitment to our brothers and sisters in Atlanta who need a helping hand. Although this is the longest Booth 61 so far at a little over an hour, we still were not able to include additional interviews that are available on the Booth 61/Business RadioX site.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed my time with Carrie. TechBridge is doing tremendous work in our community. You do not have to be a huge company or a wealthy philanthropist to get involved. Their is room in the tent for anyone willing to help. Contact TechBridge to learn more about how you too can help improve a life in our community.

Stephen Fleming, Georgia Tech Executive Visits Booth 61

May 13th, 2013 the Atlanta CEO Council held it’s most recent gathering. Another All Star crowd of Atlanta and beyond technology superstars visited the Ritz Carlton Buckhead for the best Lamb Chops on Planet Earth. For almost 15 years the Atlanta CEO Council has created an environment where new relationships are created and deals get done. Over 150 technology entrepreneurs, angel investors, venture capitalists, professional services providers, and other VIP’s gather to do business.

This month’s program began with a presentation by Russ Clark and Matt Sanders from Georgia Tech about the project/research/commercial viability of Magic Window. After the informative presentation, everyone moved into the reception where Booth 61 was able to interview a handful of the guests. There was a lot of energy in the room and I personally wish I could have interviewed twenty more of these fine folks.

Always a pleasure and a privilege to spend time with my friend, Stephen Fleming. I met Stephen in the last 1990’s when he was a Venture Capitalist and I was a starving entrepreneur. Stephen did not invest with me but he always treated me with respect and dignity unlike many of the venture community. Stephen’s impact on our community has been huge both as an investor and as the Vice President of Georgia Tech. One of the nations top incubators is the ATDC and Stephen is expanding the operation across the state.
