On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy opened the show with Katie Neiman with Dr Fitness’ favorite footwear Fit Flops. Katie explain that Fit Flops are the only footwear than comes with a gym built-in. These fashionable shoes activate your muscles as you walk – kind of like simulating walking while barefoot. These shoes blow away those old fashioned flip flops because they diffuse the pressure on your feet, while the old ones force your toes to hold the shoe on the foot which is uncomfortable after awhile.  These are not your mother’s sandals – they look great, they give you a hidden workout. They combine fashion with function and since the FitFlop makes sure your foot is always kept in the right position the 26 bones that make up your foot are all aligned properly. Dr Fitness insists that these will be the most comfortable pair of flip flops you will ever own. They have a kids line coming soon and have lots of different styles to choose from. You can try them on for yourself at Macy’s Nordstrom, Lady FootLocker and other great shoe stores or get them online at Zappos. Go to their website and see why Oprah put these shoes on her Top 10 list www.fitflop.com

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to improve your memory. All the information we now consume through the internet, TV, radio and juts walking around makes it hard for us to remember things that are really important. We are dealing with information overload. Just think about how many passwords you have to remember for all the websites you go to. So here are some memory tips to help you remember stuff: After you meet someone new, repeat their name back to them by saying something like “Nice to meet you Bill”  Remember things in chunks – don’t remember one number at at time cluster the numbers in chunks of three or four. And always remember to sleep and exercise more and take those omega 3s.  Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy closed the show with personal safety expert Ingo Weigel author of the book Self Defense for Modern Times. He teaches the Revat Fitness technique. He shared some of his best self defense tips for women or the Fat Guy. Some people think that women need different self defense techniques than men – Ingo disagrees.  Ingo thinks that surviving crime requires more mental toughness than physical abilities. Size, weight, conditioning and upper body strength don’t make the difference. Ingo says that lady like self defense and anti-crime gadgets offer unrealistic guarantees. His tips were great. Number 1 – never go to the floor or ground to fight back. Number 2 – never start wrestling or grappling with your attacker. Number 3 – target groin, eyes throat. Remember you only have a couple of seconds to react and your attacker is probably stronger than you so be proactive, look the guy in the eyes  and take charge once you know a confrontation is inevitable. To learn more please go to his websites www.revatfitness.com or www.selfdefenseformoderntimes.com

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain why you should drink more water. While it is debatable exactly how much water you should be drinking each day – it is true that a lot of people are walking around suffering from dehydration without really knowing it.  You don’t want to get dehydrated, and a lot of times when you think you’re hungry you are actually thirsty. So drink some water instead of raiding the pantry or vending machine. Dr Fitness loves to squeeze a little lime or lemon in his water to give it some flavor. He also dilutes his sodas with water as well. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
